And don’t forget the good ol’: where or where can we go? America is all my 3 yo has known! |
Educated literate ones don’t count. Net positive |
There is almost no chance it gets taken out of the constitution so we are stuck with it. |
This. MAGA doesn’t seem to understand the implications of this ruling. Constitutional amendments can now be appealed if someone with standing believes they no longer serve the purposes of the republic. The second amendment falls squarely in that category. And no more forum shopping in Texas to take away abortion rights for women throughout the land. |
Wait, you remember prohibition? How old are you?? Anyhoo…have you somehow missed all your fellow gun nuts running around rambling about their 2A rights? Yes, I do assume you all *learned* about prohibition, etc. and the fact that our founding fathers intended the constitution to be a living, changing document so that the dead would not rule over the living. Which is why it’s a head-scratcher when you all talk like the 2A is untouchable. But that’s over now! Thanks Trump! |
+1 |
Stop deflecting |
Sometimes the fact that they can’t see past their own noses really comes in handy! |
No no. This is not a deflection. I’m not sure you understand what a deflection is. The thing that happened today can be applied to other amendments, such as the 2A. Republicans probably should have thought this through, but oh well! |
so is it over? |
Four of his children are no longer American than because they were born to immigrant mothers. |
The government has already infringed on the 2A Now it can infringe on birthright citizenship |
Birthright citizenship mostly affects the rich not the poor.. I know Trump knows this because he was in the hotel business but the hotel industry benefits ALOT from birth tourism. Rich foreigners /royals who come to the Us at 6-7 months pregnant, stay here for a few months to give birth, then travel back to their country as soon as the newborn baby is cleared to travel. They do this because the American passport is considered the strongest passport/citizenship in the world. They just want their kids born here because being an American is a status symbol and then they’ll raise them back in their native country. Lot of wealthy folks do this. Trump knows and I’m sure he is fine with birthright citizenship for the rich. It’s only the poor “anchor babies” (the ones who choose to stay) he has a problem with |
700 page bills including major immigration or gun control items stapled with 500 horse-traded votes for states never pass. Stick to a single issue, no horse trading. Clearly currently it’s Citizenship by Birth. Start your own gun control thread elsewhere |
Irrelevant, father and mother were legal and documented citizens when child was born Irrelevant, similar to how England did this 20 years ago, it will not be applied retroactively. But you already knew both of those things. |
