6/15 (Girls graduate 2027) did you DD get it?

You really need to be ECNL or GA starting in 10th grade. Then it’s all about making good highlight film, contacting colleges ahead of showcases so they will watch you play. And then keep following up with more film, attend their ID camps. If your DD is willing to attend any college regardless of division level, academic quality or price, there is a way to play college soccer for just about any decent player even if it is parenting malpractice.

Good answer. Good luck to all. The process can be a roller coaster ride.

Pretty stressful time - I think the comparison is the thief of joy comment is accurate. Far to often, you can get caught up in the what about them type stuff.

Throughout this process leading up to June 15, we have been trying to keep things pretty close to the vest. Teammates know what IDs other have gone to, but not much beyond that in terms of real interest.

Our coach has done a nice job of keeping the girls updated leading into June 15, so while some schools have been a surprise, most have not.

It will be interesting to see how playoffs in SD shake out as well since coaches are able to talk to the players now.

Good Luck to all!

This is a good perspective- our coach has been upfront about where the girls shake out and what is a reasonable goal for schools. I’m just trying to things in a realistic purview and enjoy the time. Not everyone gets to do this. Enjoy the moment and it will all work out. Good luck to everyone!

“It will all work out” is a terrible way to approach this. Playing soccer in college doesn’t just magically happen. The player needs to take a very active roll in reaching out to the right coaches, following up, creating film, attending events, phone calls. Notice that none of that has anything to do with playing soccer. Of course, they also need to be training and dedicated to soccer and fitness but in a way that’s the easy part because it’s what they already know.

GA ‘27 DD has had calls with and scheduled for 8 Mid Major D1s. No P4s at this point. Already offers from a few D3s. We are playing the marathon game and not sprinting.

Misleading and misdirection is the only way to do any of this with gatekeeper parents always finding new ways to change the locks

Don’t forget to keep up the academics which I have seen cause problems. Being a great soccer player is only one factor.

From IG, a couple of `27 DMV girls already committed playing D1 soccer.

Ugh...I completely understood what the PP meant by "It will all work out". I think you missed it completely. Of course my DD has been taking a very active role in the process - she's been reaching out to coaches since August of last year, made videos, posted schedules, received feedback from her club on schools to target, who is interested, who could be calling.

It will all work out meaning - don't get caught up in when others are posting commitments or when or where your teammates are going. Allow them to have their moment. The process is a long one from when it was first started last year. Keep working hard and the process will work out and the right school - D1, 2 or 3, NAIA will be found. Good Luck!

PP- this ⬆️ is exactly what I was saying. It will all work out the way it’s supposed too. I mean these girls are ‘probably’ not playing professional soccer (or I’m assuming it would have happened already?) try to enjoy the process of recruiting, put in the work, enjoy the ride, allow yourself to breath and take in the moments that ALL of this is! Of course put in the work, do the clinics, the camps, the videos, the emails but don’t get caught up keeping up with others- or where they are going, doing, seeing- you and your child will be where they are supposed to be! Good luck!!

Congrats to the local girls who have committed already. I’ve only seen one from FVU on IG. What other clubs? Also, I think it goes to show that you do not have to be on a top team to commit to a D1 school just days after June 15.
Anonymous
Why commit that early? What if the player gets injured in the next couple of years or decides it may not be the best fit? Just wondering how firm those are. And what is the rationale for doing so early?

Thanks!

I saw two Dartmouth commits on Twitter. Not DMV girls but my point is that I’m surprised an Ivy coach would bend the rules. They must’ve been in touch prior no?
Anonymous
Why is it assumed that a coach is bending the rules? There’s many resources available for both players and coaches to put in the work and research prior to June 15th to make an informed decision.
