It's not that crazy when you account for when girls hit puberty and when they're done growing. From a coaching standpoint max height is likely determined. Technical base is also established. As much as people joke about U11 girls with social media pages, things start really early on the girl's side and you're likely on your path by U15.

There are a lot of girls that quit soccer between u11 and u15. Even more that just aren't as good at u15 than they were at u11. So starting early isn't necessarily good.

Lots of girls still trading off that national team pool invite they got at age 13. Other kids can be better at 17 but coaches dont know that.

It’s not just for P4. The majority of colleges at the ECNL and GA showcases this week will not be P4. There will be 250 (GA) to 400 (ECNL) colleges at these events. I would not limit it to just a handful of schools unless you have a hook already like you or your club coach knows the college coach well. Every college will try to fill their roster from ECNL/GA first and then only use RL if there is a gap.

for the showcase last year for GA/ECNL, what were the numbers?

So, any updates at all? DD and us as parents are finding the process a bit overwhelming.

There seems to be a lot of pressure out there coming from early verbal commitments, even seeing this in her club.

DD is in a position where she has received interest and is working to narrow things down. She is happy that she has interest from some of her top choices and schools where she went to ID camps. 3 of the 4 schools that she went to an ID camp have been in contact with her.

But, she really wants to get on campus but can't meet with coaches on campus until 8/1, but there seems to be some pressure to commit before then. Ugh.

I know, good to be you, right? Yeah, but things are moving really fast. Faster than we really would like. We are holding to our plans to continue the process throughout the summer and get on campuses starting 8/1.

I think things will begin to move even faster once the GA and ECNL events wrap up, at least that’s what we have heard from our club.

It’s good she has many options but may need to make a fast decision. The reality is these big programs don’t have many spots, so the longer you hold out then the risk increases that may have move on. Unless she’s on the USYNT team.

PP here - yeah, we have heard this too that things will continue to move quickly when these events are completed. It's crazy in my mind. DD is making a decision that will impact her quite a bit - not just the soccer thing, but the school thing as well and the pressure to decide is bananas.

Wife and are were talking and thought it would be better if the initial contact can occur on 6/15 but offers can be made until 8/1 when visits can occur. At least that way, you could have a chance to get on campus, meet the coach, some players, etc.

Remember these are just verbal commitments at this point. Nothing is actually in writing. Both players and colleges are making early commitments because they want to lock up something now but many will still keep looking for a better option. Don't think you are done if you make a verbal commitment this far out.

slowly we got over the 6/15, and it was in the past after DD gave up further interactions for 2 D1s that completely not good match.
business as usual, have to arrange the ID sessions in July and Aug.
Overall, although things moving fast my gut feeling that most 2027 will settle between Aug 2025 to April 2026.
Still a long way to go.

One coach said their high school recruiting class will be small because they are looking to use the transfer portal now.
