Pretty stressful time - I think the comparison is the thief of joy comment is accurate. Far to often, you can get caught up in the what about them type stuff. Throughout this process leading up to June 15, we have been trying to keep things pretty close to the vest. Teammates know what IDs other have gone to, but not much beyond that in terms of real interest. Our coach has done a nice job of keeping the girls updated leading into June 15, so while some schools have been a surprise, most have not. It will be interesting to see how playoffs in SD shake out as well since coaches are able to talk to the players now. Good Luck to all!
This is a good perspective- our coach has been upfront about where the girls shake out and what is a reasonable goal for schools. I’m just trying to things in a realistic purview and enjoy the time. Not everyone gets to do this. Enjoy the moment and it will all work out. Good luck to everyone!
“It will all work out” is a terrible way to approach this. Playing soccer in college doesn’t just magically happen. The player needs to take a very active roll in reaching out to the right coaches, following up, creating film, attending events, phone calls. Notice that none of that has anything to do with playing soccer. Of course, they also need to be training and dedicated to soccer and fitness but in a way that’s the easy part because it’s what they already know.
Ugh...I completely understood what the PP meant by "It will all work out". I think you missed it completely. Of course my DD has been taking a very active role in the process - she's been reaching out to coaches since August of last year, made videos, posted schedules, received feedback from her club on schools to target, who is interested, who could be calling. It will all work out meaning - don't get caught up in when others are posting commitments or when or where your teammates are going. Allow them to have their moment. The process is a long one from when it was first started last year. Keep working hard and the process will work out and the right school - D1, 2 or 3, NAIA will be found. Good Luck!
