People who lie about service animals

They will say emotional support. Unfortunately that's legal. They don't have to answer beyond that.

Catch up to the woman and her dog and it is taking a huge dump in the airport. How can that be a service dog? My so not service, poorly behaved rescue dog would NEVER sh*t inside.

How long of a flight? Even service dogs need to poo, PP. I've fostered dozens of dogs in my life, and service or no service, when you have to go, you have to go. Airports usually have potty spots for dogs, but they're few and far between and can take a really long time to walk to! A decent human would come prepared to clean up after their dog, with poo bags, disinfecting wipes and paper towels. Similar concept to diaper bags, really I travel with a "dog bag".

Me again. I disapprove of liars who pretend their dogs are service dogs, of course. The staff can always ask to see the certificate.

There's not really such a thing as "the certificate" and its illegal to ask for something like that.

PP you replied to. Really? Wow, there should be some national certification issued that one can ask/show to reduce fakers.

You are potentially violating HIPAA. That certificate could tell you what disability the person had. https://www.hipaajournal.com/does-hipaa-apply-to-animals/

You're an idiot.

Emotional support animals don't have the same protections as service animals, but most people don't want to cause the drama that would ensue from bringing attention to that.

Not if they're smart they won't. Emotional support is not a task and emotional support animals aren't covered by the ADA.

Exactly. I wish more people would call them out on their crap.

You aren’t violating hipaa by asking. You violate it by spreading someone else’s private health info - or accessing it- without permission or without medical need. If you ask, and the person tells, are you going to say they violated their own health privacy? Lol

Incorrect. "Emotional Support" or "Comfort Animals" or "Therapy dog" have no protections under ADA. They are not considered "Service Animals" and you are not required to oblige people. An "ESA" is a pet. Full stop. Just a pet.

Dog should be allowed anywhere at any time and people who think differently have lost our mind. The dog species is collectively a much better one than the human species.

If Larla tells me (not a medical professional) that she has Syphilis and I tell Sally, that does not violate HIPAA. If I work for Larla's doctor's office and access her records and then tell Sally that Larla has Syphilis, that is a violation. Regular lay people, except in rare exceptions, do not fall under HIPAA

College kids are now allowed to bring their emotional support animals with them to live in dorms.
My kid is allergic to cats but her roommate was allowed to bring a cat into the suite. Luckily my kid had her own sleeping area but the cat didn't seem to know that.
You would (oraybe not) be shocked at which school.

Women protests saying it's a service animal. As I'm leaving the dog goes absolutely wild aggressively barking at my baby in a stroller. I didn't say anything. Should I have? What gets people to stop?

Many places are now only allowing actual service animals (dog that is trained to perform a task) and not emotional support ones. More places need to do this though. I am tired of all the small yappy a$$hole dogs in the stores barking at people.

They are too low IQ to account for human ability and nature to bend, expand and redefine rules into a sloppy, slovenly and somewhat smelly affair. Support animal meant a dog with a handle for a blind person. Now you're in an airplane seated next to a coyote. Only stupid people with the wisdom of a fruitfly push for those regressive and misery inducing philosophies.

You are an unhinged moron.

This has nothing to do with politics, least of all communism or socialism FFS.

And I don't like dogs being everywhere and people faking that they are service animals.

People also fake that they can't work and vacuum up the money socialists confiscated from working people
