Not begrudging them the money -- people can give and if this family can take a nice vacation or pay off their mortgage, good for them. Legal redress for name calling? All of sounds like a slush fund to pay lawyers and NOT the family.

Terrorizing a small child and their family with screaming and repeated use of a racial slur that goes along with violence is much more than name calling. You're either extremely ignorant or deliberately trying to minimize what that word means, especially in this context.

You call the police and get them arrested. You don't make it your payday.

I have zero problems with a GoFundMe for the kid and his family and would have no issues if they used the money to go on vacation. The wording of what they are raising the money for just feels.... dishonest. Is any of the money actually going to be used to activism? For legal fees (no legal issues have even been brought up)? I don't know, it's the phrasing like the money is going be used for community activism or to fight the injustice and I don't really believe it. I don't care how the family uses the money, it just irks me a little how it's all being phrased.

I'm the PP and yeah I think this is it. It's using what happened for the family to raise money for their chapter but it doesn't seem like that distinction is completely clear. I would like to know how much the family is actually going to get.
