MN woman calls black child the n-word; Internet showers her with $300K

The comments in the woman's givesendgo fundraiser are the most depressing thing I've read in a while. They're treating her like a hero for "standing up" to a 5 year old, for God's sake--a 5 year old!--and laying bare their racism, while whining about being victims. Has it always been this way or did Trump unleash the ugliness in people?

The FBI had been reporting for years that the greatest danger to the country was White Christian Nationalists. There is a complicated answer to your question but the simple answer is both- T is the figurehead that allowed racism to amplify

Not begrudging them the money -- people can give and if this family can take a nice vacation or pay off their mortgage, good for them. But it seems bizarre that we live in a world where (1) trash people call children racist names at playgrounds, AND (2) being called a racist name at a playground results in a huge financial windfall for your family. Just an extremely weird system we've set up here.

They are not taking a vacation, but goodness, what if they did? What if this family who suffered a baseless attack also got to receive a gift that would bring joy? Wow! Terrrible!

We’ve been asked by countless community members how they can help. This campaign is our answer.
• Legal redress and social justice efforts in support of the child and family.
• Legal advocacy, accountability, and restorative efforts, also in support of the child and family.

So the money will be used to work on the specific harm- counseling, maybe they will have to move, etc and the larger systemic problem. So relax, they're not getting goodies, just an attempt to restore damage and keep it from happening again.

Legal redress for name calling? All of sounds like a slush fund to pay lawyers and NOT the family.

Terrorizing a small child and their family with screaming and repeated use of a racial slur that goes along with violence is much more than name calling. You're either extremely ignorant or deliberately trying to minimize what that word means, especially in this context.

Ok, legal eagle, what's the charge?

What did he actually steal or try to steal? Why do none of the stories spell that out?

I asked this question of my teen and she said "meth. He tried to steal her meth." I looked at her pic and it tracks.

It says the kid was trying to take her 18 month olds stuff…what would that be? A pouch? A toy? A diaper?

You call the police and get them arrested. You don't make it your payday.

Your heart is speaking here. Shouldn’t you be MORE concerned about why someone would reward bad behavior. The fund for the kid is more about making a statement against the fundraiser for the lady. It even says that it’s an answer to that. Who should be rewarded in the scenario? Definitely not the offender.

Why are you worried about the kid receiving a windfall and not the racist? Make it make sense!

The kid is autistic.

She started this by raining down hate speech on a 5 year old, but she wants money because she might have to move and her own two small children “don’t deserve” to be impacted by the consequences of her actions?! The internet is everywhere, lady. Moving isn’t gonna fix this.

The five year old is also autistic. This woman is evil.

It’s for legal fees. That was a hate crime.

Of course it’s always been this way. Have you never seen the photos of gleeful families cheering on the lynching of 14 year old black boys?

That's a stretch. You know Biden's DOJ isn't around anymore, right?

Oh, good grief. We need to get control of our "feelings" and recognize that yelling at someone is not a hate crime for crying out loud.
