So you want Feds making $3.60 an hour? The safe of you and your family on the line every day but you want to magically pay highly educated scientists $50k a year? Go back to your factory job. |
You are aware that there is a high barrier to entry? These people have PhDs and generate valuable research. They live in a HCOL area. Some professions make more money than others. Surprised you didn’t know this. |
There are/were something like 2.9 million federal employees and you’re surprised that a handful on DCUM are making more than $250,000? |
My group at FDA all have advanced degrees but we’re not MD’s so all are on the GS scale. Unless we become supervisors we’re capped at GS-13. |
Can confirm, so many are interviewing that they can't meet deadlines anymore. There is no reason for any scientist or MD to stay who isn't a few years from retirement. This is what happens when republicans work to purposely break the system, the system breaks. Assume some of that "hardship" musk and republicans referred to us going through will be the lack of availability of useful drugs and contaminated food. |
dOGE broke and is still breaking the law. When the tide changes Musk will be fine other dOGE employees and the the head will face legal consequences. |
Barely anyone makes that. That’s above the 15 step 10 level. That’s higher executive service level pay. |
Then he also had no authority and should STFU. |
Or they are GP. The best part is that Feds are almost all vastly overqualified for their positions. Who do these dumbasses cheering for this think that they are going to be competing with for jobs? Lol…the fired Feds are going to come take any positions that are worth anything and send the MAGAs to the unemployment office. |
And it's quite expensive to live in the DC metro area. Don't worry person who hates to see scientists making more than basic wages: scientists who are still working at federal agencies are interviewing with private industry every chance they can get. Takes a lot of loans to get a PhD and then be able to afford to even buy a crappy fixer upper sfh in the DC metro. Good luck taking your non evaluated drugs, not getting vaccines, and have to evaluate every single bit of food you put in your mouth that you haven't personally grown or raised. |
haha, seriously. I think the PP maybe likes to mooch of the do-nothing fed employee, so indirectly mooching off taxpayers. |
+1 He has always shown to be a liar. People stupid enough to vote for Trump just ignored the obvious signs and heard what they wanted to hear. |
tenure? Inflation adjusted increases? -non fed |
There are not "so many" feds making more than 250k. There are few vocal feds on the jobs forum who are probably not old enough to retire, making 250k, but are in their 50s and early 60s and in that age range where private industry hates to hire but when most people need to work until they are at least 65-69, as republicans wanted many years ago. It's going to take them a while, probably carrying a sfh with a high mortgage in the DC metro and kids who are in college or approaching college age. It's hard to have kids early when you need a PhD or MD to do your job. My friend has a PhD and has worked as a fed for 15+ years at FDA, is now a manager, and just started to make more than 200k recently. Most of his reports under 40 are looking to get out. I'm sure there are soooo many younger people who want to (and are smart enough) spend ten years of their lives in higher education to then move to the DC metro, maybe be able to afford to buy a sfh (or not), and then have people insult them for it. All for less than 200k a year to start. /s |
Don't count on any FDA scientists who aren't near retirement to actually come back, or at least not for very long.
Current republicans have showed them who you really are. |
