Gifted 50 pound bag of raw carrots - ideas please!

I’m laughing at this suggestion — not because there’s anything wrong with it, but because I pay $47 every few months for a 5.5 lb bag of dehydrated carrot pellets so my dog has firm stools. Apparently, dogs can’t absorb the nutrients from raw carrots. If I was going to dehydrate carrots, that’s how I’d use them. 😂

And carrot juice.

I would pickle a lot of them.

You said you are juicing so: This cold carrot soup recipe is one of the most delicious things I've ever had, and you need a juicer to do it. You can make it without coconut if you want. https://www.theblendergirl.com/recipe/raw-vegan-carrot-ginger-soup/

I'll have to look into food banks. Most of the ones I have donated to in the past only take nonperishable goods.

But the bag came from a friend who had been given about 7 bags.

This just invites more questions! Who was the friend? Who gave her the 7 bags? Were they 7 50-lb bags, and you got one of them? What made her think that you would want the 50 lbs? (I think I'm the first person in my friend group whom people would think of if they had too many carrots too.)

You are annoying.

DP, they're not. I am also curious how someone comes into possession of 350 lbs of carrots.

There are food auctions weekly that auction off huge quantities of perishable produce to the highest bidder rather than throw it out.

E. coli?

Was this meant to be foreign aid?

I disagree, a 50 pound bag of carrots is like what someone buys for a horse, not for human consumption! The largest bag you can buy at Costco is 5 pounds. I can’t imagine receiving 50 pounds of carrots and trying to figure out what I can cook with them and instead of not donating them to people in need.

The 50 lb. bag is what they sell at the feed supply place where I grew up (area with a bunch of horse farms, each of which has a lot of horses).

Carrots aren't a natural diet item for horses. They are a treat for them, not a staple food, most of the diet has to be made up of grass/hay/etc.

The 50 pound bags are used as treats when you have a bunch of horses on a farm. It's like...buying bulk candy to give out to tons of different trick or treaters at halloween.

Gajar ka halwa I'd you like South Asian desserts.

Here's a recipe I found but have not tried: https://www.indianhealthyrecipes.com/carrot-halwa-recipe-gajar-ka-halwa-recipe/

People enjoy this on its own, with nuts, whipped cream, or vanilla ice cream.
