Is the goal to be hungry when you go to bed?

I recently started injections for weight loss (tirzepatide) and honestly, one of my most favorite things about it is not being hungry when I go to bed even though I'm on a reduced calorie diet. Exactly like you, I started at 5'7 and 145 which is not a happy weight for me. Now down to 136 and feel so much better. The only reason I'm having success is that this med has eliminated or greatly dulled the feeling of hunger, which I have such a torturous time fending off.

How did you get the meds? I would do this in a heartbeat if I could get them. Op here

I got them from a Medspa and was very happy that they gave them to me, almost no questions asked, even though I was a normal BMI. It has truly been life changing for me. I recently switched to Fifty410 because the Medspa was charging much more. It was very easy. I filled out an intake form and admittedly, I fudged my weight numbers to get my BMI up to 27. I had to scan in my driver's license and worried that I might be denied based on the photo showing me not overweight, but I received a prescription for a very reasonable price and it's on its way to me.

I am glad I started with the Medspa because they really filled me with confidence that this could work for me (I have struggled with binge eating and just really having a hard time dropping weight - I cannot STAND to be hungry). They gave me the injections, too. I am not in the DC area or I would tell you the name of the Medspa, but it's a pretty common thing for Medspas to be into these days so I'm sure you can find a place near you. Or, you could just begin with an online pharmacy like I am doing now.

My original plan was to take the meds until I dropped the 15 pounds I wanted to lose, but now that I have been on them for nearly a month, it feels so life changing and freeing that I may stay on a very low dose indefinitely. It's really taken away my obsession with food and eating and this has been a game changer for me.

What if you don't have an obsession with food? Will it still help? I don't think about food all day or anything. Like today - its 11:30am and I am having my first meal of the day. I had a cup and a half of coffee. Been up since 6:15am. OP here

In addition to changing my brain around food, it certainly has given me a feeling of fullness that lasts a very long time. I had two eggs for breakfast at 8 AM, and it's now close to noon, and I'm not hungry yet. That's not the norm for me. And as I said...I'm never going to bed hungry, despite eating around 1200 calories per day which is extremely low for me. The med slows digestion and signal satiety in your brain. You can read about my experience in detail in another post I made:

I do think it could be a quick fix for someone like you who just wants to drop a few pounds. That was my initial intention with it. But it has made life so much better for me, not even counting the weight loss I'm experiencing. I just love how free I feel and how I'm not always battling with myself around food - thinking, "Oh no someone brought donuts to the office oh my God I shouldn't have one but I want one" and then before I know it I've eaten three. I just am pretty much eating to nourish myself and that's it. It's awesome.

OP, I find if I go to bed a little hungry it's a good sign I can lose weight, but I also eat a good serving of real food for dinner so I'm not starving by bedtime. Trying to replace carbs with veggies, soup, or beans so you can still eat a decent volume helps.

I also drink a cup of herbal tea before bed. Trying to replace a nightcap, the ritual and liquid in my stomach are both nice.

I am also so spun up about what is going on with all of these EOs (directly affected by shut down of federal funding) that I can't eat. So I guess that helps keep my weight in check. Yay Trump. I will be down to my goal weight of 125 by the end of these 4 years. OP

+1

I will never be thin because I am a bear when I'm hungry. I recently lost 50 pounds and I'm calling it good at 5'2" and 140 pounds at 64 years old.

I'm doing semaglutide so I don't feel that way too much, because I need very low cal as a short woman.

I unfortunately have the opposite reaction. I’m stress eating everything in my house.

Ugh that is the worst. I am thankful that at least all this stress makes me unable to eat I guess.

I go to sleep at 9, wake up at 5.

I eat mainly between 11-6:30. I'm not hungry when I go to sleep - in fact I prefer to be pretty full (and usually am). It's MUCH easier to start the day hungry, than go to sleep hungry.

IMO that is not normal, OP. Unless you have or are developing disorder eating.

Personally, if I am hungry when I go to bed my sleep suffers horribly. It was a problem for a long time when I would eat early with my family. We eat later now at 7:30 and usually in bed by 10:30 or so. Sleep is much much better.

Why only a protein shake for dinner? Why not real food?

I try to do this. That way I get a big window of very low calorie status and I don't get impacted by it

I'm ok with a little hunger before bed. I usually wake up with a bit of nausea hunger pains, but it goes away after a few minutes and I'm fine. I only drink coffee in the morning and water and don't eat a meal (usually yoghurt or salad) until after my workouts around 12-1pm. Dinner at 6pm and I'm done for the day.

Drink more water. Go to bed before you get hungry but not while you are stuffed.
