Is she maybe super short? One of my friends is maybe 5’ and quite hippy. She wears a size 4 when I would have guessed at least a 10. |
| Pants: 2 petite. LL—4 |

This thread is why I just can't with LLL. I'm a 4 in regular clothes and a small in Athleta leggings. No guessing. No difference between the different kinds of leggings.
I don't understand the strategy of making people guess at LLL. |
|
Their founder — Chip something —
was known for calling women fat. Anyone else remember the days when anything larger than an 8 was hidden in the back?! |
| The LL social media poster could also be lying, right? |
I think some people just size way down in the Align. It's the only one it's possible in because of the fabric. I'm a size 4 or 6 in LL usually, but have a couple aligns in size 0 because they were on sale and when I tried them on, they worked. I have also tried on other leggings there in a 0 or 2 for the same reason (only size available at a discount) and they were really uncomfortable. But the align are super stretchy and not designed to be at all compressive. |
|
I mean MAYBE these people who are buying Align well below their other lines in bigger sizes can do it, but no way the product will last. Generally, the advice at Lulu is to go one size down from your "normal" with the Align products, but it seems some of these Insta models are going 6+ sizes down. Maybe they fit.....for that day. But I would think the elasticity of the product can't handle much repeat use.
An employee once told me people complain about the pilling (especially on the seams), but her POV was these clothes were never meant to be worn all day as we're wearing them now. They were meant to be worn to yoga or to workout, then taken off. That did make some sense to me.... |
This makes so much sense! |

Wait, what?
I am a 27/28 in jeans and wear a size 4 in Lulu, although thinking size 6 for my next pair as things are just “shifting” as I get older. |
|
Size 2/4 in life, 27 inch jeans, xs/s in Vuori -and I’m solidly a 6 or 8 in LLL. And LLL is just way less comfortable than all my Vuori stuff so I could probably just start wearing size 8 in LLL and be happy.
But I’ve never gotten the appeal of that store…. |
| I mean, they are stretchy so obviously most people can probably size up or down and be fine but not by several sizes. my 5'2" 95 pound 13 year old wears a 4. She fits the 2, and I'd imagine the 0, but they are expensive so we bought 4s in the two she has in hopes she will get more use out of them. The 4s definitely do not appear to big on her. I'd go with your regular size. |
Meh. I think you could wear your regular size. But as someone said, they have no compression so they are just really stretchy and you could sqeeze into a size down, but also wear your regular size. |
The Aligns don’t go sheer when you size down? If not, this is good info to have when my size is out of stock. |
| If she were squeezing in to down size she'd have muffin tops which she doesn't in that pic. NO way is she wearing a 6. I am a curvy 120 lbs and wear a 6. |

Aligns are super stretchy. Someone could squeeze into a size that’s far smaller than what they should be wearing (my sister, who is about an 8-10 in standard sizing does this - she buys size 4). I agree that it’s probably not good for the product and you’ll see pilling issues faster.
I am a 2 in street sizing and wear a 4 in Lulu leggings, including Align. In the past few years I’ve ranged between 107-125 lbs and they always fit fine, but I’d be more likely to size up than down in most Lululemon products. If you’re an M in Target leggings, I’d start with a size 8 and 10 and see which feels better. If it’s feasible to order both and return one pair, I’d do that. |
