He was a good man. I’m not sad as he was 100. Did a lot of great things after his presidency. |

Yes it is quite a rarity |
Why wouldn't he have a state funeral in Washington, DC and lie in state at the Capital Rotunda? |
Will have public observances in Atlanta and Washington, D.C. before Carter will be interred privately in Plains, Georgia. |
He redeemed himself in a way that few people ever will. We will probably never again in our lives see such an example of someone so completely turning around public perception of them.
A terrible President, but one of the finest humanitarians that we will ever see. Every great thing he accomplished in his life was after leaving what we think to be the most important job in the world. Jimmy Carter showed us how insignificant the presidency really is. |
A great man and a great human being. Such a huge contrast from what we have incoming. RIP. |
Honestly he wasn’t that bad a President. Probably middle of the pack. He introduced the concept of energy efficiency and energy independence as national policy. Negotiated what has turned into a lasting peace between Israel and Egypt. Restored integrity to the Presidency after Nixon. He made some mistakes but he was far from our worst President. But, yes, his primary accomplishments occurred after he left office, and that’s his real legacy. |
RIP Jimmy. |
Trump’s response was very nice.

I think it is poignant that he left this earth before Trump takes office again. Carter was an extraordinary humanitarian. |
He lived his faith. Imagine that! |
Nope, before too. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, prosperous farmer, nuclear engineer, reformist, and governor of Georgia prior to becoming president in 1977. |
Can we just speak to the good man Carter was without injecting your hate for Trump? Geez! |
