Yeah. She’s not a politician and she would not have been able to hide her disgust for Trump. The Carter family asked that politics stay away and so that’s what she did.

It doesn't matter. She's a former first lady who by the way will live off the largess of the taxpayers for the rest of her life. She should have been there. This was a State Funeral. It is more about the country and the Presidency than it is about the person who died. Very bad call on her part to skip it, and it only fuels the rumors that she and Barack have split.

Even if they split, she would have come. She is not a petulant child.

Barack has been in DC the past four years on and off running the White House staff who moan about the Bidens. Michelle did not sign up for her husband to be de facto Dem Pres for life so she headed out to California to be close to the girls.
They are going through marital trouble linked to the Biden administration and politics. Obama loves it and can't get enough of it. Michelle thinks it's all unethical and doesn't want to be involved in the corruption and potential scandal

Michelle attended both inaugurations, and shook hands with Trump during Bush's state funeral. Trump is not the reason she did not attend. It's Obama and the Bidens.
