| Einstein bagel or Chesapeake Bagel. |
Would love that kind of vacay! Thanks for the suggestion |

It’s pretty cold out and few places to rest comfortably at parks.
Libraries are generally pretty uncomfortable seating, since the influx of homeless they are trying discourage lounging. Panera etc are busy restaurants with loud Muzak all the time. Dayuse seems to fit the bill, I would gamble on the hotel lobby too. Buy a drink at the bar or restaurant and then plop into a cozy corner. |

Ok a couple more specific recommendations if you are looking for truly quiet spaces that are also nice.
I like the two-story Starbucks at the Chesterbrook Shopping Center in McLean. Upstairs is usually pretty nice & quiet. Caboose coffeehouse/brewery at Mosaic is quiet. I love the suggestion of hotel lobbies - I don't know that many around here specifically but I bet some of the nice hotels in the Tyson's area would be perfect. |
+1 this is my go to. Please try to at least buy something small while you're there, though. |
| When I need alone (not 5 hours, that is crazy and it’s rude to invite guest over and leave for 5 hours a day), I park somewhere and stay in my minivan. I have tinted windows, I have WiFi in the van, and keep a pillow and blanket in the back for when I lay the seats down for a bed. |
Yes minivan for the win. Not when it is not wanted but is obligatory (in-laws for holidays) |
| How about a church? It is know to be quiet. |
Sometimes for just a half hour |

If you just need 2 hours, look into fast casual restaurants like Panera, Noodles & Company, etc. I have done this while my kid is at an activity or drop off playdate and the wifi works well and it's remarkably quiet -- people mostly do take out from those places. I also appreciate they have clean, convenient bathrooms.
Public libraries are good. I only know DC libraries, not NOVA, but I second the suggestion to book a meeting room if you can. I like libraries close to places to get food or coffee so I can take a proper break when I need to. My favorite in DC is the Cleveland Park library which is also metro accessible. MLK downtown is also great. More DC options: the atrium at the Portrait gallery has tables, wifi, and you can visit the collection after you finish work. The National Gallery of Art has several cafe spaces and the wifi is decent. You can also get temp passes to WeWork and other spaces like that, sometimes for free or very cheaply through a trial program. I've done this multiple times and it's great for focused work and nice to be somewhere that isn't just a public space. |
It’s not like I’m inviting guests over and leaving. There are other people here to entertain them and like I said it’s family and they are happy to be left alone as well/are very comfortable in my home. They don’t find it rude at all for me to leave for extended periods of time to get work done |
Thank you so much!! I’ll look into all of these |
Good idea |
Thank you!!! |
Again, just look into a one day pass at a co-working place. Free coffee too! |
