Is this an endorsement of misogyny or a reaction to feminism on some level?

I also don’t agree with electing someone into office that I didn’t vote for in a primary. That is so wrong on so many levels and shouldn’t be tolerated from either side. I’m glad we didn’t allow that in the end, if I’m being honest.

This was going to be a case of “history repeating itself” either way: they have both had ample opportunity do good in office, and they have both failed. But we had a choice to make between two idiots. With “history” in the back of my mind, the age old question of “are we better off today than we were four years ago” played a role in my decision making, and, well, no. I’m sorry, but no, we aren’t better.

I don’t like either, but I know what to expect from both. If history is going to repeat itself, then so be it.

It is disingenous to say you didn't want a "blathering idiot" or that you would have preferred Whitmer and then to be okay with Trump becoming president. Trump is a blathering idiot and Whitmer wasn't on the ballot. You had two choices. You either voted for Trump (wholly unqualified for the job due to his performance the first time and behavior since, plus older than Biden was when Biden took office) or you didn't vote for anyone thus enabling Trump to win.

If you voted for no one I just think you are derelict in your duty as a citizen. If you voted for Trump I think misogyny HAD to play a role because even if you think Harris is unqualified there is no way she is less qualifed than Trump. Objectively. He is a bad person. He's corrupt. He failed to protect the country on J6. And he's too old.

I don’t like blathering idiots from either gender, but when it comes to the first female president, I don’t want her to be a blathering idiot like the men. I want her to be better. So I chose the idiot man we can expect instead of the idiot woman, just because, when I know we can do better. And I hope we learn a lesson and do better in four years.

Right forum. There are many bigger reasons but gender dominance goes hand in hand with education and employment.

I definitely think misogyny played a role. I saw so many interviews where people said they couldn’t vote for Harris “because of her laugh” or “I don’t think she’s ready to be president.” That second one is complete BS when you compare her experience to what Trump had in 2016 or what Vance has now.

There’s no way it’s because people don’t like being called trash or Nazis. It’s definitely not about the fact liberals think it’s ok men can beat up women in women’s sports and we’re supposed to smile and think that it’s somehow ok that the same man will change in their daughter’s locker rooms. I bet it’s also not the fact millions of illegal aliens poured in and even raped and killed multiple women. Surely it’s not that the democrats couldn’t get good hardworking men to vote for them because they trashed them and called them sexists the past seven years. Nope none of those things..it’s because all men are…wait for it…dun dun dun….MISOGYNISTIC!

Uhmm…you call yourselves Nazis.

I know that I’m not going to change your mind, but own it man. This is who you are.

I don’t understand how this is so hard to understand. We’ve come to expect idiot male presidents. Let’s not expect the same from women, in the name of “women”. Let’s do better than the men! Let’s EXPECT the women to not be idiots like the men. So yeah, for me, it was feminism. Probably not the feminism you’re familiar with, but strong, competent females.

We can only pray democracy holds. That's not what his next administration wants. They will spend the next 4 years rigging every election they can. Everyone was screaming the alarms and yet.

Don't forget, Hitler was voted into power through a fair and free election process.

It is fools like you that makes me smile and laugh at.
We've already had a Trump presidency and the country was in much better shape compared to the Biden/ Harris 4 year dumpster fire.

Cute…coming from the party that had its antifa and BLM paramilitary groups riot and destroy cities.

The biggest NeoNazi Richard Spenser endorsed Harris.

The democrats ousted an elected leader of their party and installed someone just like the Soviet’s and Nazis did.

That’s your party in a nutshell…own it man..

It’s so frustrating that you can’t see that Democratic policies lost this race, not the candidate’s gender or color. Identity politics is not a winning strategy. Figure it out.

You are not a feminist and I wonder if you are even actually a woman. Holding a women to a higher standard than men is textbook misogyny. Saying women have to be perfect to be president and men have to be... not dead yet (based on your words it's okay for them to be idiots) to be president is insane.

Maybe it's just the same person reposting, but I can't believe this is in multiple posts. Some Dems being accepting of trans women competing in girls sports is a big enough issue to reelect an insurrectionist who admires Hitler, was adjudicated to have committed sexual assault and who brags about molesting women? Guys. The President doesn't even decide who competes in sports leagues.

No, but it may be a reaction to this kind of attitude. Most voters honestly don’t care what sex and/or race a candidate is. If the race had been Biden vs. Nikki Haley do you really think all the Trump voters would have backed Biden just to avoid supporting a woman?

Instead of portraying women as victims of the male patriarchy and men as their oppressors, Democrats need to recognize that voters have more depth than a demographic label and their concerns are more complex. Instead of assuming that anyone who votes against you is either too stupid/evil to follow your direction of what is right for them, maybe you should ask them what is right for them and actually listen.

There are so many complex issues, that if you look for it you will almost certainly be able to find some common ground somewhere. Instead, if someone doesn’t toe the party line, the Democrats turn them into the enemy. I think some Democrats cate more about their smug, self-righteous superiority over Republicans than in trying to get their votes to win the election. Now you’ve lost the election, but you’re finding comfort in the explanation that it’s “an endorsement of misogyny or a reaction to feminism” and because “men don't want things to change”.

This strategy isn’t working for you. During our next election (assuming there is one, which isn’t a given with Trump in office” you might decide if you “want things to change”.

The last election, while a decisive Biden victory was too close to take this election for granted. Despite fresh memories of how awful Trump was, reinforced by his daily Tweets, not to mention COVID, the election was still shockingly close. For the 2024 election, the voters had 4 years to blunt the sharp edges of their complaints about Trump, while Biden was inevitably going to rack up grievances over the same interval. On any issue, regardless of what he did, he was bound to upset someone, and quite likely voters on both sides of the issue with some thinking he did too much and others, not enough.

This election was always going to be harder to win than the last election, but you still treated Republican voters as the enemy. You need to start recognizing the Republican candidate is your opponent, not the voters whose support you need.

Out literal president is “…not dead yet” but by all means, keep talking in circles.

Yes, I am a woman. Yes, I hold myself to a higher standard than I do men.

I'm a woman and I don't particularly "like" Kamala or Hillary (and I voted for both). They aren't charismatic or in the case of Trump, so crazy manipulative.
