| Grade inflation is mess and it's as if the kids didn't have enough to deal with we deincentivizes good grades, good behavior, and pledging allegiance to America. Further, the majority kids acts mentally challenged but the blame the teachers who have no support,no autonomy, and no enforceable school rules. Just endless busy work and blame blame blame to internalize. Its a profession that is very unstable and full of burnout. I do not recommend. |
There is a grade modification form that can be processed to correct an error within 45 days of the end of the quarter. It involves admin signing off. I don’t know when teachers stop being able to correct the grades themselves and when the form becomes required, but there is a process to correct bonafide errors. |
Different PP but I’m required to give 50% at my school. It’s setting them up for a rude awakening. Middle school is where they should be learning time management. If they aren’t in a high school course, then a couple of zeros usually gets kids on a path of learning how to use time better in class. It won’t affect their high school gpa and better study skills will only benefit them as they move through their academic career. But what do I know. I’m just a lowly teacher that sees the lack of effort now. Students think they are all set for high school with inflated grades. They should go to standards based and lower class sizes if they are worried about students not passing. Right now we are just scooting them out the door. This is the future that will be taking care of us and we are setting them up for a much harder time. Admin at MCPS are more worried about themselves and optics. All are trash IMO. Sorry. But not really. |
High school or MS? High school bring it up, MS let it go. |
No there are not the required number of grades for Q1. Even with the major project they still don't have enough assignments as per the regulations. I'm sure she'll include in Q2 but that's not right. That's not what the students were told. |
I think if a teacher doesn't feel like grading Q1 assignments and it makes the number of assignments go below what is required that's something to report. This is a very basic requirement for teachers and one that should be followed. |
| Our child's teacher got an extension for grading due to being sick so there is a mechanism for taking longer to grade that can be invoked. |
Interesting. We were told that report cards had to be posted by 12 pm yesterday. Our school always sets an earlier deadline than the MCPS general deadline. If we don’t have everything finalized and posted by 12 pm, we start getting nasty emails from admin |
At least your admins do something |
