On the Republican side, JD Vance is Exhibit A. I don't know who the new Democrat standard bearers will be, but I do not expect Kamala Harris to be in the discussion.

I agree with some of this but draw the line at “bashing straight white males” because it’s not a thing. There were tens of thousands of white men at the rally. Plenty with women. A neighbor was with a group of men from work. Assume the wives were at home with kids on a school night.

She fully supports the Lankford bill that would provide funding for border security, for ICE agents, for improved detection of fentanyl at the border, for fixing some of the broken parts of the asylum seeker process that would let us more quickly send back the 80% plus of asylum seekers that are ineligible, it would greatly improve the adjudication process reducing the 2+ year backlog in deportation cases which could eliminate "catch and release", it would codify "remain in mexico" type policy for asylum seekers and many other things.

I think that's likely. Progressives are a lot like far-right conservatives. They get their energy from being confrontational and in opposition. Look at the noise from the last time Trump was president - BLM riots, restorative justice, open borders, misogynistic trans women, All Cops Are Bastards, DEI, math is racist, and so on. Most of what Republicans natter on about with DEI is complete nonsense.
Republicans refuse to acknowledge their own toxic divisiveness.
As for the border, Trump and the Republicans killed a bill that would have fixed a lot of the asylum issues along with speeding up deportations and dealing with fentanyl.

And as for the economy, try reading what economists have said about Trump's proposals for 200% blanket tariffs and a 20% sales tax and how much that would drive up inflation and how much more it would end up costing the average American family.
