Assistant Principal Frank is out. Odd announcement?

It's not her hiring that was a problem. She can only hire from the people that apply for the job. The problem is the departures.

I think the math teachers are the bright spot. Some of the teachers there are extremely passionate about math and that has pros and cons.
Their passion can rub off on the mathcentric students at TJ.
They have no patience for the recent influx of TJ students that are not good at math.

Teachers and students are reportedly happy she is leaving. Sad to leave this way.

Alums are happy too! Lots of comments on the alum page. I wish FCPS would get rid of her altogether not just put her in HR (which she seems unqualified for).

The math teachers are fine. They just refuse to dumb down the curriculum. You probably like the new hires because they were easier on your kid since they don't follow the "more rigorous" TJ curriculum. I have a TJ graduate, and she loved having a newly hired teacher because they were usually easier. Except for math where they want an experienced teacher because tests were for the whole department so you would want the best teacher.

I think with a graduated student you’re a bit out of touch. All TJ tests are for the entire department. And it’s not dumbed down. But math department is problematic - with a few notable exceptions. Will give tests without grading and handing back the formative quizzes first for the units they are testing on. They need to get their act together.

But, the timing seems off. Why wouldn’t an assistant principal wait until the summer, or at least mid-year, before leaving?

Then, the email says he “accepted a new position as an assistant principal with Mountain View High School.” but then why does it continue, “This week, he started working with the FCPS Adult Education program.” ??

Finally, anyone know anything about the new interim assistant principal, Dylan Forshay ? Looks like he will oversee language arts. Anyone expect any changes? Interested in your thoughts.

TIA!
The timing for Principals is different. The fall is the best time. There is a ton of planning and setting up the next year in the spring. having your new Principal in place by spring works well.

Forshay was a PE teacher so I wouldn't expect him to make any changes to academic departments.

There’s a remarkable amount of speculation in this article that is flat out nonsense.

Since some of it is wrong (like the ranking falling having to do with the admissions when the data is from before the admissions), I assumed the writer and editor just didn't do a good job. Seems to be happening more and more at NR since they lost so many people to The Dispatch.

The ranking includes data from the 2021/2022 school year. The class of 2025 were freshmen then. I don't put a lot of stock in the USNWR high school ranking because it changes depending on the methodology.

Whoa! Really?? Then TJ is going to drop down to something like 75th best school once the data is just 2025 -2028.
