First, he seemed like a nice guy; only met him a few times.
But, the timing seems off. Why wouldn’t an assistant principal wait until the summer, or at least mid-year, before leaving? Then, the email says he “accepted a new position as an assistant principal with Mountain View High School.” but then why does it continue, “This week, he started working with the FCPS Adult Education program.” ?? Finally, anyone know anything about the new interim assistant principal, Dylan Forshay ? Looks like he will oversee language arts. Anyone expect any changes? Interested in your thoughts. TIA! |
Mountain View High School is an alternative school with adult learners. |
This is super typical. The position he held will now be filled by another FCPS employee, and people at that school losing a current admin or staff member will say, “that timing seems off!”
Ideally everything would happen in the summer, but it doesn’t. Staff can move at any time for a promotion (moving up to HS pays more than other levels) or with the approval of their boss. |
it is weird timing. Nothing will change because the department heads decide on most issues. |
He was placed at Mt. View. He was not hired. It’s definitely weird. |
Oh no! Asst. Principal Shawn Frank was there for almost ten years, longest tenured in current administration, motivated students to work hard and discouraged dropping down course rigor as first resort instead see it as a personal challenge. Not sure what happened, although school went through a drastic mindset shift during pandemic, may not have been compatible with his approach.

Odd that Frank left mid-quarter to work at Mountain View, where the student body is nothing like TJ’s, despite being the longest tenured AP. Wonder what happened there.
Forshay, the interim AP, has been director of student activities at TJ for a few years now. He seems to be fairly well liked, though he’s rather young and I don’t know what experience he has with the administrative/disciplinary stuff. |
The position at Mountain View was never listed. This is a 3rd AP for the under 200 students. They don’t need a 3rd AP. He was placed at the school and no one is sure why. |
He was on leave and then just gone. He clearly loved the TJ community, so his departure is suspect. Forshay’s only experience is teaching PE and being activities director. We’ll see how he does with academic issues that arise. Also strange that they would make him acting for the whole year. |
Mr Frank was over the math department and later the Language Arts when were at TJ. Not sure why that switch, but certainly know that Ms Benson has her hands full with the math department now.
Mr Frank was actually the only TJ admin I ever saw at away TJ sporting events. He’ll be missed |
I've met Dylan Forshay at a TJ sporting event. He's younger than most staff at TJ, energetic and very involved in the school, as it relates to athletics. He seems very connected with the students, understands the balance between sports and academics, and attends TJ games every night, even away games. Overall, I'm very bullish on him as he cares about the school and the students. |
This is very strange. I would understand if he left to become principal somewhere but this looks like he was forced out. I hope somebody follows up. |
Was he in charge of the math department when they blasted out that email to the math 4 students |
Mr. Frank looked like he lost a lot of weight recently. Not to speculate too much but I am wondering if he was sick. |
“Not to speculate but I’m going to speculate on the internet about a private person’s health.” You are a terrible person. |
