Perfect description. Dixit is like some confused visiting auntie who was told to stay put in an Ashburn subdivision until her niece got home, but wandered off to Fairfax and ended up at a School Board meeting. |
This is remarkably unkind and unhelpful. You can disagree with her on policy without getting personal and mean-spirited. |
This is the MO of the local republican activists. Just google them and you'll see that no one is safe from their wrath, to include an autistic child who they literally laughed at on camera. https://wjla.com/news/local/fairfax-county-gop-school-board-candidates-laugh-at-student-singing-the-national-anthem-youtube-fcps-harry-jackson-stephanie-lunquist-arora-republican-school-board-shadow-board-show-coping-with-gender-fluidity |
PP. Not a republican, much less a political activist. Elected officials should be held to a high standard for maintaining professionalism and decorum as they interact with people, especially their constituents. When they fail (as Sandy did) to keep their cool and cannot hide their condescension and disdain from the public, then they rightfully make themselves targets for mean spirited words. This goes for any elected official representing any party. No one is forcing anyone to run for an office. Sandy wanted to take on the power and responsibility of her current role to push her agenda, and given everything we have seen so far she does not deserve the benefit of the doubt when it comes to how she comports herself while interacting with the public. |
+1. Also not a Republican, and agree that her disdain for her constituents makes this fair game. Sandy Andy needs to do much better by them. |
| I get the impression that Sandy just says what she thinks will please the local Democratic power brokers. Lots of references to likely imaginary pleas from “constituents” for redistricting. |
Nice deflection that has nothing to do with people on this thread making fun of her weight. Try again. |
Here's the problem: at every turn SB members are disingenuous in their language (see bold above), and make sure the risk is placed on families and not the SB. Anderson is trying to sell this (along with colleagues who voted with her) as "we didn't want to be boxed in by grandfathering language as we make adjustments because it will leave the opportunity open for your kid to ignore new boundaries completely." These are capacity based boundary moves, OF COURSE the SB already knows they cannot let students finish where they start, but right now it sounds good and non-committal and open ended. Just keep in mind the adopted amendment is not benevolent to families, it is so the school board doesn't have a promise to keep, doesn't have a commitment that can be measured against in the future. |
"Never wrestle with a pig, you both get dirty and the pig likes it." The audience at the SB meeting is far from innocent, but SB officials should not lower themselves to the behavior an ill behaved crowd. Oops, no pun intended on the quote! |
I don’t think you understand what a pun is. |
Damn what did Spotsylvania do to you? |
None of her constituents are asking for redistricting. Is she actually on record saying this? It is an outright lie. |
|
She was awful in both the general meeting and in the governance meeting. I wouldn’t trust a word she says about keeping kids through to the end of a school. She was the one who claimed 5th graders could go to a different elementary for 6th grade and then on to middle school the following year.
She was and is not thinking about this from a child’s perspective at ALL. Only as if kids are chess pieces. I would say her Lewis families want to be redistricted if she has any. |
|
At this point, focus should be on how soon Lewis should be closed. FCPS is loathe to ever admit failure and close schools but in this case, this is the most prudent and realistic plan.
It’s too late to begin to re draw boundaries and pull kids from WSHS. This has been a controversial decision dating back to Daventry development: residents moved there thinking this was solid WSHS boundary (developer thought so) and then the bait and switch. My parent’s then-new neighborhood off of Hooes Road was built circa 1979 with WSHS pyramid schools (HVEs/Irving) but changed to Lee in 1987. |
| Completely incomprehensible. Did she vote for grandfathering in more than just seniors? I was hoping for language that guaranteed a minimum of 6th, 8th, 11th and 12th. I can’t tell either if she proposed and voted for this or if it ultimately passed. |
