I don't think Stanford, Northeastern, Chicago or Columbia get negative press here. Unless you mean based on student protests this year? I also think that Duke is more balanced - it has a mix of boosters and haters. I'd move Michigan to positive. |
| Tufts is old and decaying. It is a negative. |
| it’s DCUM - of course UVA is worshipped here - speak to folks in the northeast and UVA is meh, reserved for the second tier B students at Delbarton or Choate. West coast top kids have zero interest in UVA - they will land at Duke or Vandy if they target schools below mason dixon line |
| they love W&M while the rest of the country doesnt even know what it is |
|
DCUM: "There's no school we won't crap on, but, as a whole, we spread our hate fairly evenly."
Reddit: "Our bias turns on the most recent USNWR rankings as well as the schools our parents think are the most prestigious." College Confidential: "We love SLACs and the NESCAC most of all; large public schools are adequate if you're poor, but if you're not, it would be insanity to choose Berkeley over Wesleyan. Did you know the latter is in the NESCAC?" |
I'll take large public schools are adequate if you're poor over "BERKELEY IS OVERRATED TRASH AND A WASTE" like on here. |
+1 |
| I will be biased to the schools that I’ve graduated and worked for as well as my wife and kids. Cornell!!! UCLA and UC Davis, Georgia Tech, and Univ of Georgia! |
Hahaha…. Love this |
Not possible. |
| You can’t tell though whether posts are from unique people or the same poster posting again and again. |
Well sometimes you can |
Yeah, but it is only from posters with actual experience at Duke. |
LOL ! Totally accurate. |
That's fair. On other forums, posters will simply be dismissive toward schools they don't hold in high esteem. On DCUM, on the other hand, certain people really, really loathe certain schools (or types of schools) and go out of their way to hyperbolically trash them. |
