Same. Open-faced with silverware? Mmkay. |
The danger is undercooked chicken. Remember, keep cooking until its shoe leather. |
Upon reading through the responses I wonder if OP might not be able to prepare her usual chicken salad but then 2-3 other options from that base. Like if you do the chicken + Mayo dressing and veggies, you could then split it into batches and do one as usual, one with curry and grapes, one with apples and walnuts or whatever. |
I think yes but as one sandwich option. People are picky about what goes in a chicken salad and the amount of mayo. |
lol. Why would you be leery of mayonnaise? Do you not have air conditioning or a refrigerator? It doesn’t sound like they’re going on a day-long hike or to an outdoor summer party. |
The ones I know don't. Can you read at all? When there's a sandwich spread almost zero men I've known grab the chicken salad. Some may go for tuna salad. Now tell us about allll the men in your life who just love chicken salad? How old are they first of all? |
Ok but who cares . It’s actually kinda weird to plan a whole menu around whether a man prefers the chicken salad or not. OP’s husband is a man who requested it. A man who is attending can definitely eat it even if he might not choose it if there were other options. You’re definitely suggesting it’s too girly for men to eat and shouldn’t serve it for that reason which is pretty odd. |
I'd love this and like the menu idea in a retro-y way with fancy bread/toppings as outlined above, but some people are weird about mayo so make sure that's not the case or offer another sandwich option (roasted chicken or turkey or roast beef?). |
The whole point of this thread is to discuss. If you don’t want to why are you here? If i was having a young male colleague to lunch this is NOT what i would serve and you shouldn’t either. |
DP. My husband, age 55, almost always orders the chicken salad if it’s on a menu. Loves it. (I don’t.) Coworker, late 30s, loves the restaurant Chicken Salad Chick so much, he felt the need to tell us all about it during a staff meeting. When I was in college, I worked at a cafe where the chicken salad was by far the most popular thing on the menu, and lots of men ordered it. |
Cool. I'm glad some men love it. The ones I know less than 50 tend to care a lot about health and diet and would never eat a fat laden salad on a croissant for a meal. OP needs to know her audience which is why I asked on page one for more info. |
Oof, I learned this lesson the hard way! Served chicken salad sandwiches one afternoon and the menfolk proceeded to tear off the bread and throw the salad at each other's faces as a dare, like chimps throwing feces! Do not make this mistake. Get a couple steaks to throw at them, you don't want your guests to starve. |
Oh, now you’re making it all about the fat content? Sure, totally a man thing. |
I serve chicken salad to guests who come for lunch. It’s pretty standard. The only exception is if they are vegetarians. I’d serve a green salad or fruit salad with it. |
