No, if I am sick I rest. |
I don't think exposure was what the pp was concerned about. Your sibling ignores their body? When I had covid my body said rest. Your sibling sounds a bit nuts. I had a friend like that who almost died of heatstroke because she went running in weather like we are having now. You are right but probably won't change sibling. |
Nope, it’s my body telling me to rest. |
No.
And for the love of God, stay the hell out of the gym if you are sick. Don't be an ahole and bring your crap into the gym. |
General medical recommendations would be rest. Especially the first week. Body needs energy to fight virus, not energy expenditure on something that can wait a week. And its really not fair to others if you are working out in a gym while you are contagious that first week. Keep your germs outside or in your own private space.
If symptoms are resolving, you are probably fine to work out. I typically don't because most of my sicknesses are upper respiratory crap and working out feels terrible even when I'm getting better. I also usually have a cough that lingers forever and these days no one likes the coughing person in public. |
You can not sweat out germs. You can flush them out with fluids, so stick to the second part. The people who insist on "working out" while ill are the same people who can't believe how long it's taken them to get over a cold. If you rest, you get better faster. If you continue to punish your body, you will not get better. You can certainly still move your body, so some stretching, a walk, etc. But there's no reason to go running with covid (a lung illness) ever. |
I rest. Even with a cold, I get ugly sick, lots of congestion, and can’t do much of anything for 10 days or so. Working out and push8ng myself just prolongs the illness. |
I do whatever I can handle. So in your example, with strep and a cold, I’d probably skip the gym, skip running, and lift at home. If I had a stomach issue, I might only be able to walk a short distance. Once when I had covid, I walked everyday as usual. But the second time, I could barely get up.
I don’t stop because I am sick but I don’t do more than my body can handle. |
