I don't know, OP. My kids are 19 and 14 and still use their stainless steel water bottles I bought when they were in elementary. Why is this hard for your family? |
Because she cares more about having kids that are tough like the kids in the olden days who had to use the school water fountain. |
Since so many kids bring water bottles, I bet the water fountain isn’t run much and tastes gross, maybe unhealthy.
Just send the bottle. |
What specific bottles are you using and how do you wash them |

OP, just get bottles like these, its simple reallly. We have active kids and they lose or break them on occasion but its more important that they stay hydrated. The teacher isn't saying these things to be jerky or difficult, they likely have very good reason whether you see that or agree... and its a small request. And FWIW, the water fountains in many schools don't always work well. |
By the spout water bottles. Your kid is unscrewing the tops and not putting them back on and the water is spilling. This isn't hard. Send the right kind of bottle. |
I bet he sees other kids with water bottles and then decides he wants to drink water too, even though he may or may not be thirsty. And that can be disruptive to the class into the teacher. So send a water bottle in.
We used a water bottle that had a click or twist sports spout. It did not leak and did not have all of those parts that I agree, get moldy. You should also just email the teacher to find out what’s happening. That would be easier than trying to guess. |
Half the recent reviews say this bottle leaks. It would be simple if I could send a simple water bottle! Either the bottle has a million parts, or it leaks, or it is open/spout top which isn’t allowed. Seriously have gone through about 7 different water bottle models since kindergarten and haven’t found the right one. |
You said in OP that teacher said no more straws. Now she insists on multi part bottles? Get simple ones like hydroflasks. |
Do you have a link to the water bottle? |
This exactly. To put it bluntly, he is getting on her nerves by constantly asking to get water and telling her he’s hungry. |
Just ask the teacher which one is best. You'r making this too hard. |
I have never found a straw bottle that doesn't leak. Send a screw top Nalgene (with a silicone straw inside if you want) and teach your kid to replace the top after every use. Email the teacher saying you have discussed with DS the need to recap it.
The teacher is being unreasonable about dictating the type of bottle, sorry. She's right about more snack though. |
Not right now, but check Amazon and search for widemouth sport lids with twist and click. |
This is so ridiculous. As a child I had a small carton of milk and probably 2 trips to the water fountain a day, and I was fine. |
