No mess, no straw, no lid. They squeeze it to get the water out.
They were on Amazon yesterday for 50% off. Usually $25.

Squeeze bottles are not allowed in class. He does take them for sports because it makes my life easier!

Ask the teacher for a recommendation then buy that. But it's clear you want to just be difficult for the sake of being difficult.

See I don’t think he should have to drink water every 10 minutes. He gets water and mil in the working before school and at lunch, and at two snack times and during PE. I don’t agree with the people - kids and adults - sipping at a water bottle every hour of the day.

It would also be easier to do daily if I could throw a capped bottle or Kleen Kanteen in every morning. Teacher is insisting everyone bring multi part bottles which inevitable mold if you don’t wash daily or else wear out and develop leaks.

So...wash them daily! My kids take Yetis with the straw tops and they don't leak and I put them in the dishwasher every night so they have a clean bottle every morning. I've been doing this for 7 years with zero issues...

$40 for a kids water bottle? Though if you tell me they really do not leak and can be run in the dishwasher I will bite the bullet and buy 2.

I think I generally find them for closer to $32-35, but they aren't cheap. However, we've had the same ones for many, many years and my husband and I also use them (we have bigger sizes) and have never had any issues. Even if you drop them they're sturdy and they may dent in the metal but it doesn't affect them. We put them in the dishwasher every night and have for years and years on end (all pieces). We've had probably a dozen other brands for various reasons (including one effing Stanley), and they have all fallen apart or broken or leaked or had issues.

Do you have the flip top hard straw one? What size do you have?

And it is hot out. And will be for the rest of the year. It is a couple weeks. Just send a darn water bottle and more snack.

My dd's teacher used to take their snacks and tell them they weren't healthy so he was helping them out. Then the pig would sit in front of them and eat the food.

OP here. The teacher last year was strict and said he was bringing too much/too many, so I scaled back this year. Like he couldn’t take a few grape tomatoes AND a couple mini peppers, it had to be all one food to be one snack.

Agree you kid is becoming disruptive. Send a damn water bottle. I’d ignore the snack suggestion but definitely send water.

I am sending water but am feeling grumpy about it. I understand water for sports - which we do for every practice and game and it’s a lot - but kist don’t agree that little kids need to be guzzling water every 10 minutes.

Just do it fool

I kind of agree with OP that we have gone a bit overboard with hydration..but it is where the world is. I also do not think people need to be attached to their phones at all times but also where the world is. It makes the teachers life easier. Send the water bottle in.

Squeeze bottles are not allowed in class. He does take them for sports because it makes my life easier!

I commented up thread. Email the teacher and find out what’s going on. She seems to be picky about the type of water bottles she wants them to use.

The squeeze bottle was a very good idea. If you already own one then email the teacher and say this is what I’m sending in because this is what I already have and I don’t want to spend the money on a new water bottle this year.

For hundreds of years American kids drank from the water fountain or well and got by.

+1 this teacher seems overly controlling IMO to be so uptight about the specific type of water bottle. She should have just dictated at the beginning of the school year the types she would allow.

Since there are only a few weeks left, I'd send whatever water bottle works for you and your kid and your snacks sounds perfectly fine. I do wonder if he is asking other kids to share their snack because it looks more appealing and the teacher is interpreting that as him being "hungry" when he just wants something different.

The whole water/snacks thing IMO has gone completely insane. You don't need TWO snacks + lunch during the school day and you don't need to be drinking water all day. But this is now the world we have to live in

Yeah but your kids haven’t been playing in the hallway and asking for drinks every five minutes and then the bathroom every 20 minutes for the past hundred years either.

Many places, including the school where I work turned off the water fountains during covid. We only have filling stations, which require a container to fill.

Yes, a water bottle that your kid can manage is an essential school supply these days, and that is separate from whatever drink is in their lunch. Not doing so is like sending your kid to school without shoes they can run in for PE.

Which school in this area has a well? Should OP send her kid to school on a pony and then be upset that there's no hitching post?
