You all are really grasping at straws to criticize her. Who actually likes turf other than tire disposal companies??

Are your kids digging out and eating spoonfuls of tire crumble from the turf? Because that might be a problem for them.

I think you’re right to worry.

Oh cool, eating spoonfuls is the only way to get unhealthy levels of whatever is leftover in used tires. Nice thinking.

I'm happy to live in a city that doesn't pack kids playgrounds with crumbled tires. And I will vote for Lewis George too.

I just read in the Washington Post that a dozen kids aged 12-19 died of opioid overdoses in 2023 for which DCs response has been to allocate a measly $800k for additional outpatient treatment. There is no inpatient treatment for opioid addiction even available in DC.

If only the city cared enough about actual kids dying instead of imaginary kids facing remote risks.

Turf.

The city counsel is a clown show.

It's council. Now who is a clown again?

We are wealthy enough to do both. Perhaps we need more progressive council members willing to do more.

JLG's signature issue is defunding the police. It's what she ran on. It would be amazing if someone like that could get reelected, after the all the complaints we've had about out of control crime.

Yeah, thats the problem. Not enough of hard-left extremists on the council. Even Elizabeth Warren would think these people are nuts.

She said the number one issue facing the city is crime, and followed it up with this:

"I supported the (Secure DC) bill and helped strengthen it. It updates our criminal code to make it easier to prosecute serious offenses like carjackings and other gun crimes. Consistently prosecuting these cases is key to making D.C. safer. We also need effective violence prevention programs, better agency coordination, a well-functioning crime lab and 911 call center, support for victims, and policies that address hunger, housing insecurity, addiction, and mental health."

She also never defunded the police, so maybe you can stop lying now? People's opinions change as more information is available to them...I know Lisa's did bc up until she decided to run she never had an issue with JLG.

Oh you mean after Lisa Gore got in the race and started picking up steam? Yeah, now, Janeese suddenly cares about crime. Maybe we should take that with a grain of salt given her *entire* record in office.

JLG's primary issue is defunding the police. We're supposed to give her credit now because she failed to do the main thing she said she was going to do?

Maybe take a look at what (and who) Lisa was supporting as recently as a year ago, and take that with a grain of salt.

I’m a Ward 4 resident and I hate turf fields, don’t think this is the biggest issue (nor do I think JLG thinks so either). I’m voting for her.

Are you new to DC? She made no bones about this. This was her main issue.

Can you show me where she is running on defunding the police? Or mentions it in any of her campaign lit for this election? Again, you are peddling in misinformation, and I'm just so tired of all this crappy rhetoric around dc politics.
