It’s very easy to get into. Much easier than JMU. |
I should say above info is from comparing stats on naviance. |
OP here. The question is not about stats or admissions. The question is are the students similar socially. |
Let’s not pretend JMU is anywhere close to selective. |
Sed headed in that direction. |
Huh? JMU has a 75% acceptable rate. |
Georgia Tech is much harder to get into than VT. |
They serve the same role for their states as the STEM school. |
Down to 69% zin 2024. https://www.acceptancerate.com/schools/james-madison-university plus, with their sports success and moving to being a national university rather than regional, probably bound to go down more. |
VT is barely selective. You’re kidding yourself if you think JMU will pass VT. |

Born and raised in GA and yes it’s true, UGA is hard to get into out of state - and I know several dmv kids who got into Wis and not UGA.
But I’d recommend staying away from ga southern if possible and I even like old sayings like ‘American by birth and southern by the grace of g/d |
Mercer is an option. GA actually has tons of good popular (to Georgians) colleges for in-state options, for kids who want to stay close to home. Plenty of good private and public college options in GA. |
Let's not pretend trying to compare JMU to... Georgia Southern?? is in any way an accurate comparison. I mean, come on. DP |

OP, what is your objective? Sending your kid to Georgia Southern as an out of stater, while everyone else there is on the Hope Scholarship, doesn't make much sense if you are in Virginia and could just go to JMU.

Um, wut? You're kidding *yourself* if you think this is actually true. DP |
