Is Georgia Southern like JMU?

Not helpful. The question was where do the type of kids (socially) that go to JMU in VA, go in Georgia

Bigger drop off after UGA. GA State is a good school, but not social and a collection of grey buildings in Downtown Atlanta.

Georgia Southern would not be the UGA back up, if a student has other options. Also, based on what I have read here, I don't think Georgia Southern is viewed the same in the state of Georgia as JMU is in Virginia.

If you can't get into Georgia in state then you ain't getting into Wisco OOS.

UGA 30,000 undergrads and a 50% in state acceptance rate. The quality of student who just missed UGA is not the same at the kid who just misses UVA

I don't know the stats of the two kids who went to Wisconsin, but they weren't accepted to UGA. I know of two other kids in DC's class who didn't get in Georgia and went to Florida and Texas. A complete mystery, as I know both are tougher admits OOS than UGA in state. Sometimes it doesn't make sense.

Not the case for Atlanta privates and metro Atlanta top high schools.

You think good students from top Atlanta high schools are going to Georgia Southern? Auburn and Alabama are the safeties, not Georgia Southern

You're right Georgia Southern, not a fit for everyone though. Can be conservative.

Kennesaw State

Georgia State

A feature, not a bug.

Not at all. I was trying to say the kids from top Atlanta schools ARE the same as kids who just miss UVA in Virginia!

Financially, it is. Outside of white Atlanta privates, Georgia is very, very poor and these students depend on the HOPE Scholarship.

PP said for top Atlanta high schools. Auburn is the same distance from Atlanta as UGA and similarly priced for a kid who can get merit

Wisco and UGA are peers.

They're similarly selective, at any rate.
