Georgetown Prep rolling out college admissions without mentioning that kids are recruits

Status-obsessed weirdos.

JHU is D3 (unless it's lacrosse) so that sport didn't help them

They've started announcing their college admissions but conveniently are not designating athletic recruits as such.
Example: today they announced a kid to Columbia and one to JHU. Well, both are athletic recruits.
The regular Joes are going to far different schools.

You don't know much about sports recruiting or athletic divisions or you wouldn't be such a jerk.

Well the athlete gets the same diploma as every other student at that college in the end. I guess you need to be more upset at the colleges you view as taking “lesser qualified” applicants. But don’t judge too harshly - one kid I know may “look” every bit of the athlete he is, but he’s also a brilliant student who well-deserves the college he’s attending.

Agree. Would not send a kid to Columbia!

Good!!! More room for other kids. FYI it’s not something you have to announce!!

You need help. Let me guess, your kid got rejected by Prep or you couldn't afford it so you had to send him to another Catholic, most likely Gonzaga. You've been checking Instagram incessantly since January 2024 desperate to see Prep's admission results to reaffirm you have value a mom and human being. By 10 PM on May 10th, you had checked Instagram for the 30th time of the day - you try to limit yourself to once an hour but forgot your meds that day - and JACKPOT!!! All your dreams came true! Time to enter the DCUM post you've been writing and rewriting in your head for over 4 months.
Who cares this much? Seriously, you do need help. At least this obsession takes your attention away from your kids and gives them some relief from you. Now take your meds today.

Prep is the one school that is trying to hope we don't notice that every decent college matriculation is a lacrosse or baseball recruit.

Again, the schools don't run the accounts. The students do.

Wow. So much lashing out. You need help, too. You and OP are so much alike - maybe you could get a group rate with a therapist.

Agree. Plus the swipe at Gonzaga was quite low.

The schools don’t have anything to do with the Instagram. Senior students set it up and run it independently, posting whenever a student wants their information to be posted. My guess is that students started doing this to share with their friends and friends from other schools as they are excited about their next step. I doubt they were considering that they should be, closing specific information so that adults having nothing to do with the school could assess the quality of their acceptance and academic tracks.

Not in the case of Prep. This is a school account.

So Prep is actually providing more information than other schools?

My guess is that prep posts their athletic recruitments on signing days or something like that.
