FCV- National Playoffs?

Even though this is all 'above board' since the players are coming from GA, you would think ECNL should have some type of rules to prevent these kinds of situations. Maybe force clubs to only allow players that have participated in X number of regular season matches as those are what determines if a team advances to the post season.

There are rules in place which does limit this to some extent. But the clubs are following the existing rules and adding players under the current rules. How existing players feel about it or are treated when the new players join is a totally different animal.

we're in uncharted territory, i don't think a top level club has every imploded in the middle of the season so quickly, it caused an influx of talented players to become available and the other clubs are taking advantage...to the victor go the spoils.

I really thought FCV would have had more business savvy. I would think a business in soccer would have better contracts that run the length of the season, or include a non compete clause if a coach leaves mid season so they can't do what happened here with BP pulling his faves to VDA and CZ pulling whole teams to VRSC.

Noncompetes might actually be the problem. Without them a coach could leave in July and start another job in July. With them there is a wait period.

It’s like a teacher leaving one school to teach at another, but because of a noncompete they have to leave in December in order to start their next job for the following school year.

No one even has the option to decide to do what’s in the best interest of the kids.

Non competes are no longer valid per the feds

Theb06/07 team will go to California. They won't have enough players for 2008 or 2009.or 2010. The 11s may have enough.

To OP...plan on not going. There won't be enough players and if the space is filled by second level players, it will be even more of a disaster.

None of the remaining coaches have any experience with GA nationals so they have no clue how it works.

How it works? Dude it’s not that complicated. Just show up at the field before scheduled game times.

How does it work? How many teams qualify for the next round from CA?

THIS.

Fair point for those families that don’t want to go for the reasons stated above. I agree completely.

But it falls flat for me if you say it’s too expensive but you were one of the families that blew it up in the first place by prioritizing Seattle with VDA. Or you say you are worried about playing time or positioning or fitting with new coaches or a few different kids that FCV might bring along to California but you blew it up in the first place by joining a whole new team to play for the first time in Seattle with VDA. Or if you don’t want to go to California because FCV can’t compete at a high level since the team won’t be prepared - but you haven’t been to practice in a month.

If that’s you just go. No hard feelings. But these coaches have enough to deal with. Not fair for them to think about you for even a minute.

Blame on VDA for letting the new players go to playoffs - unfair for the current players.

Our VDA coach told parents in August that everyone currently on the roster was not guaranteed a spot in roster for playoffs. It’s non recruiting age group. Makes sense to me. I want DD to have the strongest teammates she can have with her.

That's pretty low for VDA to tell some of their current players, that they will not be rostered for playoffs, or have seriously reduced playing time, in order to make room for these new FCV players that are joining next season?

VDA treats players leaving like s—, whether they want them back or not. They are worse about it than the other big clubs. Not sure why that isn’t common knowledge on this board, but has been the case with their current leadership for years.
