FCV- National Playoffs?

It's like this every year towards the end at a lot of places. But to ask families to dish out thousands to go play in a big stage against big opponents when the coaches have all left, and players are already out the door and ready to play for VDA in Seattle, why spend the money?

Feel for the families.

It's really unfortunate.

You must be a joy to live with. blaming children i guess is easier than confronting your own insecurities

BP is going to take the credit if there's any success this June 🤣

Let's not point fingers at kids. Every coach likely has their 'faves' it's just when it becomes painfully obvious that certain ones can do no wrong under a certain coach is when it's an issue, especially within a team environment. Players won't respect you if there's no consistency in how you treat them from one player to the next.

OP here- i just think at some point they need to let parents know what to expect in the coming month. If they can’t field a team let us know! My family might like to make other plans for that timeframe but are patiently waiting for an answer.

+1. Just let us know. Not that it matters at this point. Even people that were willing to go have already seen the writing on the wall and are making other plans.

+2. Add to it needing to organize vacation at work find someone to watch the dog, etc.

Fair point for those families that don’t want to go for the reasons stated above. I agree completely.

But it falls flat for me if you say it’s too expensive but you were one of the families that blew it up in the first place by prioritizing Seattle with VDA. Or you say you are worried about playing time or positioning or fitting with new coaches or a few different kids that FCV might bring along to California but you blew it up in the first place by joining a whole new team to play for the first time in Seattle with VDA. Or if you don’t want to go to California because FCV can’t compete at a high level since the team won’t be prepared - but you haven’t been to practice in a month.

If that’s you just go. No hard feelings. But these coaches have enough to deal with. Not fair for them to think about you for even a minute.

Why don’t you ask all the other parents on your team and get a count of who would go? Don’t wait for FCV management to do it because they will wait until the last possible minute before cancelling while they try to find enough players.

This has actually already been done- but FCV is now doing it on their own. So have no choice since FCV is the final say on registering us.

Blame on VDA for letting the new players go to playoffs - unfair for the current players.

That's pretty low for VDA to tell some of their current players, that they will not be rostered for playoffs, or have seriously reduced playing time, in order to make room for these new FCV players that are joining next season?

That's life at the top for players at that level. Your position isn't always safe unless you're a part of the very small percentage of Coach or club favorites. There will be disappointed players but if they're successful most on each team won't care.

Clubs really don't care, they care about success, regardless of how they get there.
