This sounds like a pretty ideal UGA visit! If he doesnāt love it after that, maybe that means heās leaning in a different direction. |

OP, I get it. I have a really indecisive kid who is deciding between a few schools that are very similar and all great options for him. If he could combine a piece of all of them, he would have the perfect school. I think it's hard to choose one that is lacking in certain areas and also hard to let go of a school that is so great in a lot of ways.
A lot of people are telling you to relax, but I find it hard to believe that parents (especially on this board) are just sitting back, letting their child make this decision without an ounce of worry or thought on their part. |
I know Michigan is in it's own league here, but why is UW so far ahead of UGA as far as postgrad outcomes? |
|
He's not in Michigan yet. And it's doing the cost. UGA and Wisconsin have similar job placements just some in different areas. I know plenty from both with great jobs. Wisconsin better in real estate or science. DC is business major and not direct admit at either. |
I think you are making a mistake by not going to an admitted students day at Wisconsin. It is only a week after when you are going but you āprefer he goes soonerā? You have until May 1st! His coach will be completely understanding as all seniors are doing re-visits all through April. You are not doing your DS any favors by skipping the planned programming. |
| Totally normal. It will make zero difference if he clicks accept today or on May 1. As long as he makes the deadline, heās going. |
+100 The experience of the admitted students event at UGA will be over the top. It is hard to compare in the 18 YO brain - unless you want to influence the choice and UGA is what you want. |
| OP most of the admitted students days are in April. Totally normal and in fact most common to still be evaluating through end of April. Given your anxiety your kid prob should do the commit a few days before the deadline to confirm no system snafus and that the commit went through. |
| Perfectly normal. With FAFSA screw ups many schools giving more time to decide. |
| Iām continually amazed at how enmeshed DCUM parents are in their kidsā lives! This is HIS decision. If something happens and he canāt visit and makes the decision with a little less information, thatās fine. Your kid has two great college acceptances. Thereās literally zero for you to be anxious about. |
You and PP have a problem being nasty. Go away if you have nothing to contribute. OP is fine. |
|
Do you not have to worry about financial aid? Because many of us are waiting to see what happens there before any decisions can be made. One of the choices on my daughterās list has told us that they donāt expect financial aid packages to be ready until late April. I just donāt understand how any schools can stick to the May 1st deadline.
Weāre in a spot where my daughter has a top choice, but without any further financial info, it is close to twice the cost of her other 2 choices. She would commit right now if money werenāt a consideration. At this moment, one school has already moved decision day to June 1. I assume the others will do the same. And until we figure out the money, no commitment can be made. |
Agreed. OP, your irrationality is doing this kid no favors and leading to some pretty illogical decision-making. |
Itās not nasty to point out something. OPās anxiety is popping off the page and she has only responded to fight with people. She needs to take a huge breath, thereās another month before decisions are due. Let the kid go to the admitted students day and then make a decision. Itās not rocket science. |
