A new level of crime. Just awful

This was my thought too. I’m so sad for the dog and the family. It sounds like a traumatizing incident. Next time it could be someone’s toddler. I live walking distance from here and am in this area with my kids all the time. This randomness of this is just shocking.

Jesus. Anyone know anything about the victim? Sort of sounds like a personal dispute maybe between two homeless guys or possible a drug related dispute. How awful. The mental health situation is really terrible. I think there’s a few different factors contributing but we definitely need a better approach.

Agree but thought we closed the institutions?

He had been going around to equestrian centers telling owners their animals were possessed and he killed a bunch of ducks on a farm. Needs to be somewhere...

Someone posted on Reddit that they went to HS with him, was quiet, normal, but post HS started doing bizarre and destructive things, likely mental illness.

Not at all. It was a regular older man walking his sweet dog attacked by a mentally ill person also from the community. No one was homeless, nothing to do with drugs.

Man, I thought you were going to post about the guy who was set on fire yesterday.

Hey, I'll take the mentally ill who attack dogs over the ones stabbing people in DC.

Nope, just regular old garden variety unchecked severe and violent mental illness. He was already known to police for attacking businesses and apparently also attacked or threatened animals at a farm. Honestly, the fact that he stabbed a dog is probably the best outcome considering how it could have easily been a person randomly killed instead.

Needs to be kept in an institution permanently.

He has a crazy rap sheet and sounds mentally ill. He just goes from fast food chain to fast food chain breaking their glass. https://www.loudoun.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=8781&fbclid=IwAR3j-MiLoG8-cX7zhsW2hwBL7Oc7ninkNog6UEt-ZoJz_7B5co3Gp7D_1MA

He also killed other animals and is suspected of harming horses as well.

Between this and the guy in Arlington who blew up the duplex I am seriously concerned about how we allow dangerous mentally ill people to just roam free.

Wait, I was told that if we just build more bike lanes and pickleball courts, everything would be fine.

Thank God he was only threatening to hurt animals.
Thank God he was only destroying screens in drive thrus.
Thank God he was only killing ducks.
Thank God he was only killing dogs.

I assume we are done tolerating or do we need to wait for a more violent event?
