| Is there a way to get lots of East Asian tiger moms and South Asian Tech dads relocate to DC? They'll bring a culture of strict parenting and competitive edge to DC's community. |
Yeah - I was just saying to a friend that DC's REAL problem is we don't have enough ultra competitive type A people
|
Not with kids in public schools. They send kids to private schools or live in suburbs. |

Alas, Trump will be better for DC.
The Biden appointees - from the USAO to judges - have been a disaster for DC. Their mission seems to be be let's kill and destroy the lives of as many people as we can. We've all seen DC spiraling since Biden became president. Trump would be better for DC. |
The judges appointed by Trump have been just as bad with regards to releasing violent criminals before trial. |
DC already spends more per capita than some of the wealthiest districts in the country. I think a lot of it is being mismanaged. One of the biggest issues right now, which should be the prime focus area is truancy rates - none of the rest will even begin to work unless that's addressed. And some of these kids will want to put up a fight and be resistant to being back in school, that needs to be specifically addressed and not just left in the hands of some little middle-aged teacher. Also, these kids aren't going to be inspired by the guy who sits in the White House - unless he came from Southeast and is one of them. Nor will most of what any bleeding heart white liberal has to contribute. They can't relate to any of that. The biggest impacts would be for kids to hear from black entrepreneurs, businessmen, professionals and others who came from similar backgrounds. These things need to be a focus, and need to be incentivized. I think there have been some good examples from NYC and other communities to learn from. |
| I’d prefer not to have any federal involvement in DC crime, but given the role of the USOAG, there has to be something from the top down to refocus priorities in DC. The crime lab problems are also so unreal that I think the crime lab should be federalized. That said I have little faith in Trump to pull off reforms unless he randomly appoints someone who is actually competent, which is not his strong suit. Biden might appoint someone more competent but more likely to be a careerist who is distracted by social justice nonsense. So IF Trump were to appoint the right person, I think we would be better off. But the likelihood of him doing so is low. |
| And even if these kids return to the streets after being picked up, maybe the city should compile some data and statistics and case studies the kids pursuing a lifestyle of robbing and selling weed and stealing cars ended up shot and killed, or beaten to the point of permanently disabled, or with longterm incarceration, or substance abuse problems and so on. As much as these kids may be "frustrated" they are being led into a false belief that crime is a way to wealth, or that crime is a necessary requisite for "street cred" for being a rapper or whatever other enterprise. There's a dc sub reddit where that crap is constantly discussed and promoted. |
The Obama years were better crime-wise in part because we actually policed then. It wasn’t about “good feelings” but about the fact that there were actual consequences. The current economy is extremely strong with years of low unemployment, yet the youths are still out carjacking. |
Same. |
Thanks to Allen and the rest of the council, “youths” equal anyone under aged 26. |
Hahahah. Unless Trump or his cavemen followers are the criminals. Which they are. Thousands of them. Too easy. |
I’m pro this |
| Unfortunately I think the answer is Trump because only a change in administration will change leadership at the USAO. I do not otherwise believe that Republicans are more competent when it comes to crime, or more competent at all really. But we need a shakeup. |
| Trump hates DC and his "era" caused the current situation. |
