We should treat them like humans. lock em up.

Wrong. Lock up humans who mistreat the dogs. These dogs are dogs.

Do you think this 89 year old woman was mistreating her dog? Did she deserve to die? Do you really think human lives are not worth more than dogs' lives? If so you are beyond hope.

Do you always blame the dog and not the human? If so, than you are beyond hope.

DP. Yes. Even a mistreated dog shouldn't attack or kill a human.

If you think they should, you have no idea what a dog is for.

Why do you hold the dogs to a higher standard than the humans? If people are mistreated serverely by people and they kill their abusers we treat them differently that those who grow up in a loving home.

How do you expect dogs that are beaten starved for food and love not to turn into hurt dogs that hurt back?

Where is your humanity? It isn't their fault they are abused

Pitbull owners are worse than their dogs.

Wow there is an articulate rebuttal. Just more insults

Ah yes. We are nut jobs but you never answer any of our questions. Like why aren't there more attacks if they are so vicious? Why don't you blame the humans at all?

There are more attacks. The thousands of attacks on animals and pets and livestock go largely unreported. And I can’t even guess how many more bites on humans go unreported. You can see the mental problems at work in the breed with all the dogs who lock on to dogs being walked by them, who strain at the leash. You can see it in the destroyed furniture, chewed through walls and doors.

Since I answered your question, one for you: is there some magic number at which you’d acknowledge that these dogs are not fit for purpose?

What do you mean by " fit for purpose?" When are you going to lock up people who abuse dogs

You think I’m a little “kooky”, for what? Thinking that dogs bred for violence shouldn’t be pushed on us? They were bred for violence: fighting bears, fighting bulls, and finally fighting dogs. They’re still bred for fighting dogs. Too many people think they’re “rescuing” some “bait dog.” No, if it was a “bait dog” it would be dead, or badly scarred and scratched up. These dogs pull off adult limbs, crush skulls, disembowel owners having seizures. These are not fit for human company.

And of course 80% of them are not fixed. OP.

Agreed. Wish something could be done.

Amstaffies can be 70 lbs and American bullies can be up to 120 lbs. A pit bull can be 100 lbs.

I didn't know this. I'm the person who has a 70 pound Pyrenees cross and I questioned whether a pit bull could be so big.

Most of the dogs I know who are called pit bulls are around 40-50 pounds. A dog that size could still do some serious damage. I can't imagine why anyone would want an enormous pit bull.

You have a very small great Pyrenees cross.
A male great Pyrenees weighs 100 pounds or more and a female great Pyrenees weighs 85 pounds or more

And for a pitbull, it could be whatever it is crossed with that makes it bigger. If it's crossed with a Rottweiler it can easily be more than 100 pounds as a male Rottweiler usually weighs between 95 and 135 pounds and a female between 80 and 100.

Using the weight of the dog as a reason to say no, it does not have pit in it, is a false argument.

I’m sure you will come up with some asinine logic to defend against these statistics or maybe you’ll just say approximately 15 kids being killed per year by these dogs (not to mention adults killed, humans maimed, and other animals attacked) is just a reasonable price to pay so you can have the exact pet you want instead of literally any other pet. Which is gross. You’re literally okay with kids needlessly dying so you can have your way.

I said on the last thread that it would only be a matter of time before there was another human fatality by a pit bull mauling (in the US; at least three fatal attacks on humans by pit bulls happened globally since that time) and here it is. Any dog can, theoretically, attack and murder, yet it’s pit bulls who are the culprit over and over and over again.
Oh no!! Another one on the owner, too. This breed is terrible.
