This thread is a bunch of ignorant whiners lumping 5 distinct breeds into a catch-all title for clickbait, then scraping every possible scrap of evidence from across the country, and even internationally, trying to justify a point that is basic at it's root: poorly trained, poorly handled dogs can cause damage. Your BS about how it's "in their DNA" is more of the same garbage non-logic. Every dog can "snap". Bully breeds aren't different somehow "in their DNA". Stupid owners make dangerous dogs. Stupid posters make dangerous disinformation threads. |
FATAL ATTACK, May 18, 2024, Farmington Hills, MI:
A 40 year old man is dead, killed by his pit bull mix. He was found unconscious by a family member who hadn’t heard from him that day. He died later. https://www.clickondetroit.com/news/local/2024/05/20/man-dies-after-family-member-finds-him-mauled-by-dog-in-oakland-county-yard/ |
The article said " believed to a pit bill mix' |
This article is inconclusive, at best. Using it as a point about how awful pit bulls are, when the dog isn't even confirmed pit, is a weak argument. Like most of this thread. |
ATTACK, MULTIPLE VICTIMS, Brighton, Massachusetts, May 22, 2024;
A pit bull sent four people to the hospital after an attack at an apartment building. https://www.nbcboston.com/news/local/4-people-injured-in-dog-attack-at-brighton-apartment/3376621/ One of the victims claims that the dog was triggered into attacking by “a nearby fire alarm.” https://whdh.com/news/4-people-sent-to-hospital-after-dog-attack-in-brighton/ |
ATTACK, MULTIPLE VICTIMS, Minneapolis, Minnesota, May 22, 2024:
A mother received life threatening injuries and her children, ages 8 and 3, received other injuries when their neighbor’s two pit bulls attacked them in their backyard. https://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/news/dogs-attack-mom-and-her-2-children-in-north-minneapolis-neighborhood/ |
Exactly. |
MASS ATTACK by two pit bulls, May 26, 2024
Literally, these dogs managed to attack or bite at least six people; the article gets a little sketchy when they get to the part about the congregation coming out of their church service and trying to help an attack in progress. Some just (“just”) had to go to urgent care but some were taken to the hospital for treatment. https://www.tmj4.com/news/milwaukee-county/three-injured-in-a-dog-attack-sunday-morning |
Horrific, and I will pray for the swift recovery of all involved. But this sort of multi-person attack isn't limited to "pit bulls" (still not a breed): https://www.wral.com/story/he-was-screaming-victim-describes-rottweiler-attack-that-hospitalized-multiple-people/19789664/ |
ATTACK, May 31st, 2024, Los Angeles:
An animal shelter worker of over twenty years is still in the hospital after having been attacked by a pit bull mix. https://www.foxla.com/news/la-animal-shelter-employee-mauled-dog.amp ““My thigh is half gone,” she said. “Like, the entire top of my thigh is gone from her just biting and biting and biting.”” https://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/la-animal-services-employee-mauled-by-dog/3429993/?amp=1 |
FATAL ATTACK, Sunday, Jun 2, 2024, Town Creek, Alabama:
An 83 year old man was mauled to death by his neighbor’s two pit bulls and was found on his front door steps. https://www.waff.com/2024/06/03/elderly-lawrence-county-man-mauled-death-by-dogs/?outputType=amp |
That's horrific, and speaks more to the nature of overcrowded "no kill" shelters not euthanizing a dangerous dog than that particular breed. Also runs contrary to the whole "they bite and don't let go" argument. |
Other contributing factors: "they have had several issues with these dogs in the past just roaming around. Deputies say they have received several calls from that area but did not see any official reports on it." "“It has to happen in the county because that’s largely where you’re going to see the biggest at large population because everyone has always said ‘well I live in the county, so I don’t have to keep my animals contained,’ but it’s just not safe to do anymore,” Jones said. “And it’s not the responsible thing to do given a lot of the issues that we’ve seen lately.” She suggests that people who live out in the county make sure that their animals are contained to their property whether with an electric fence or a real fence." So the more accurate headline is: "idiot owner leaves dogs unsecured, kills man" Are you lobbying for stronger penalties for idiot owners, or just blaming the (believed to be) pit bulls? |
Also seems in keeping with the narrative that LA shelters don't have their business in order: https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2023-05-31/los-angeles-animal-shelter-volunteer-dog-mauling-jury-verdict |
Ireland, not the US, but killed by her own dogs:
