That man can get "services" at DC Jail or St. E's. Enough with the minimizing of criminal and dangerous conduct and focusing on the perp as a victim, not public safety and the well being of kids. DSA cohort on the Council, looking at YOU, ZP, need to sit down and stop all this talk of "services" as the be all end all. Even CA has increased involuntary commitment under that "right wing" Newsom. Hope Pinto takes note.

Way too many people like this in DMV, out on streets, on trains and buses. And yeah, around kids.
For the sake of the public and of the individuals we need to move back toward more compelled treatment of mental illness and addiction and facilities for criminally insane if they cannot be stabilized long term if independent. The status quo only works for the multi-billion dollar Homeless Industrial Complex and their ineffective hanger on outpatient "service providers." Enough. The social fabric is being shredded. |

It's time for the Feds to take over.
If not now, when? |
| This is totally crazy. I've had many interactions with that guy, including a very scary period of time when he singled me out and would wait in front of my home for me to come out so he could follow me and spout gibberish. I called the cops, and they shooed him along and said that he has family in the area but refuses care. They (MPD) give him clothing sometimes. He was clearly always on the verge of attacking someone. What are we supposed to do? |
Fully agree. |
+ one million |
| Support services? Why is he not in jail? |
PRESS CHARGES. On the instagram post, so many neighbors were saying similar stories or worse (he masterbated in front of my son, etc) but NO ONE PRESSED CHARGES. |
Prosecutors decide if charges will be filed. Not individual citizens. What we can do is report crime and criminal behavior. The individuals did that. Repeatedly. |
You clearly haven't been reading the instagram posted in this thread where several neighbors claim they had experience with him (including his masterbating in front of them) and how they had decided not to press charges. So it appears they were offered that option. I'm just taking those people at their word. |
This isn’t quite accurate. In this situation the woman who called police to report him masturbating in her yard then told them she didn’t want to press charges. She is the only witness to that crime, when police arrive on scene and she tells them she doesn’t want him charged/arrested, police are not going to arrest him. There are also a whole category of misdemeanor charges where police cannot arrest on scene if they didn’t first hand witness the crime. They need to seek a warrant, which they aren’t going to do if the witness tells them they don’t want to go forward. |
Blaming drugs when the facts show otherwise. We also have an ignorance crisis in this country. |
My husband would’ve waited til dark, put on a gray hoodie and a mask, grabbed a baseball bat, and beaten the teeth out of that guy’s head and probably broken at least one of his hands. Along with a warning that if he was ever on that block again he’d be killed and put in a dumpster. That’s my pyscho hubby and I LOVE him for it. |
This is the way. Too many weak pacifists in this city. |
