When was this coined? DC Native and did not ever hear until maybe 5-10 years ago. I am in my 40s.

I am from actual DC, so I didn't really even know the difference between MD and VA until I went to UVa.

WVA is the country, where people go to hike and whitewaterafting. Just because a train from the DMV area goes out that way does not make it part of the DMV.

Jefferson County WV is part of the DC MSA. The rest of the state is not in the dc area.
