You’re not the first PP to respond with this, but why do you think it’s stupid? I can see shallow and racist, but why stupid?

Why racist? People of all different races have brown eyes.

Helloooo! Desiring blue eyes is a white supremacist dogwhistle!

Racism against brown eyed people is the hidden racism. You all just don't want to believe it. Only 15% (1 out of 6) of caucasian have blue eyes, but just about every famous white actor has blue eyes. And look up your chain of command at work. Is it 1 in 6 or more more among your bosses?

DP. I'm not going to do a list because you can Google for yourself, but look up "actors with brown eyes." Plenty of "famous actors" including white ones (and FYI, Hispanics are Caucasian, PP) who have brown eyes. Plenty of non-actor celebrity-famous people too. Give it up. You're trying to derail OP's thread.
No, I'm not. I'm adding context to OPs post that non-hispanic whites in the US don't see. In Europe the preference is much more explicitly acknowledged.

It's not a dog whistle for something else. It is an explicitly stated preference that they have for blue eyed whites over brown eyed whites.

NP. You have to do some deeper thinking here. We associate blue eyes with white people, and thinking that a trait that is associated with white people is superior can be kinda racist. But I wouldn't say it automatically is. All I can say for sure is that OP is ridiculous and this is a pretty dumb post.

No, I don’t. I don’t go around calling people racist for making such a stupid comment. If you don’t know - it’s not automatically racist? - why are you calling someone a racist? For all you know, OP is not white.

So it’s not anything against non-whites?

NP A preference for blue eyes was tied to Nazi racism and the idea of a pure race.

I think this OP is just bored.

I have brown eyes and am hoping my spouse isn't the OP.

I said "it can be kinda racist." I did not call OP racist. Don't be so sensitive.

Now do green eyes.

I didn’t realize only 2% of people have green eyes.

People throw around the word racist; it has lost all meaning.

Racism has many facets one such facet is in featurism or colorism which a preference for blue eyes has origins in white supremacy. . And poc often reinforce this belief

It's weird.
Hating an eye color is weird, completely nonsensical.

It's also weird that you have such strong feelings about eye color yet you married him. Fyi chances are pretty good your kids will have brown eyes

I get it. You're just venting anonymously. Expect a ton of hate and snark here, though. I get what you're saying, but maybe reframe away from "I hate spouse's eye color" to "I like blue eyes." See the difference? It's not about wishing your spouse were different, it's about acknowledging there's something else you find attractive and owning that in your head. Then: Consider that your spouse's brown eyes are the ones you get to look into when you need support, affection, when you have a kid, when there's a milestone.

It's OK to have things you find attractive, period, which your spouse simply doesn't possess. It becomes a problem only if you think of it as "I hate this about spouse" instead of "Isn't X objectively attractive on people!" Just balance things in your head with what your spouse does bring to the table. There's an actor I follow who has eyes which are not the same color as DH's; I just enjoy those stunning eyes on actor guy, but it doesn't make me wish DH's were the same. (I'm sure DH could say the same about me, as I know he likes blonde hair and I'm brunette! But he tells me he loves my hair and I know it's because its my hair, not because he objectively prefers brunettes.)
.

This is an absolutely lovely post.

It's a stupid post because:

1. HE WAS BORN THIS WAY AND YOU KNEW WHAT HIS EYE COLOR WAS WHEN YOU MARRIED HIM
2. other than wearing contacts, HE CAN'T CHANGE A DAMN THING ABOUT IT
3. Who goes around "hating" the eye color of their spouse? This is definitely a new one for DCUM
4. The vast majority of people in this world have brown eyes. So, get used to it.

Are you triggered because you have brown eyes? Your comment seems a bit unhinged.
