WE WANT SCHOOL WIDE SOL SCORES

Almost like the school board doesn’t want us to think before we vote. Awful.

I think Glennnn wanted to wait until at least the budget was passed and possibly until after these midterm elections.

Can I ask why you all are ignoring this??

What is Youngkin trying to hide?

So it’s a state issue. Where are the Youngkin supporters? Go call your good ole boy.

It's the state not FCPS.

What should we infer from this? Honest question.

FCPS used to release all this data on their school profiles. The state VA Dept of Education no longer allows that--they want to control all the data releases. Blame them not FCPS.

They never released individual scores. The other thing is if kids fail but make progress from previous year it counts as a pass.

They released all the percentages of Pass Proficient, Pass Advanced, and not Passing. CLose enough.

Yes, but these tests are unfair to ESL kids. So the data is skewed.

The separated out the data including those.

Yes. You can go straight to the VA DOE website and see scores just from specific groups if you want ( by race, income, ESL, etc). But no data for 22/23 yet. I agree this data needs to be released now, and all caps is warranted.

Some kids are exempt from taking them.

Very few kids are exempt - a tiny fraction of a percent.
What does this matter?

Maybe all caps are warranted. If so, they’re pointed at the wrong place. OP is hell bent on a tirade against FCPS as if they are the ones willfully withholding them.

Anonymous wrote:It is infuriating OP. I cannot for the life of me understand why this is so hard for them. I can't help but think the results dismal and they want time to pass so people forget about it.

These scores absolutely matter. They are an indicator of the competency of the school administration, a measure of the academic level the students are at, and indicator of teacher strength. These are all important factors if one is moving to FCPS to see which are school is the best for their kid.

These scores do not matter. There are kids who don’t speak English being forced to take these tests. It only matters how your kid does.

DP. But as a tax paying and voting citizen, the scores matter to me. I want to know how the schools in my community are, or are not, meeting the needs of all children. Shame on you.

Except you cannot compare a school that is predominantly white to one with a larger ESL or SPEd population. They are not bad schools, they just don’t have enough resources to help those kids.

Uhm yes, that’s my point. Show us the scores so we can think about where resources need to go!

Except then there will be complaints that Mclean pyramid has 30 kids per class and other schools have 18 per class.

What PP means is show us the scores so we can decide what schools to avoid

True, OP just didn't understand that. But all caps directed at VA DOE is justified. Does anyone have insider info? When will these come out? And to whom we can inquire/complain? I very much want to know, and the public has a right to know in a timely manner.

Except that the state sets teachers up by giving teachers little indication of what will be on the test. The sample test questions teachers are given to help kids prepare are from 2015.
