| If you’re dating in your 40s, would you get it? |
| I had stage 4 base-of-tongue cancer (HPV 16 positive) but am fine now. The virus probably was in me for 30+ years before coming out of hiding. If I were engaging in it, I would be worried especially about unprotected anal sex, because there is no pap smear test (and it sounds like a nasty way to get cancer). |
| Yes I did. Bad pap. The doctor suggested I get HPV vaccines (even though I was clearly already sexually active) because they would boost my immune system's response to fighting the HPV. It cleared itself up. |
The shots do not prevent HPV. They prevent the cancer-causing strains. |
Exactly. PP is not very smart. |
Of course! How is this a question? |
| Yes |
Because the guidance isn’t very clear. |
But it doesn’t hurt to get it anyways, right ? |
Yes. I’m early 50s and about to get it once I get my pap results back. |
So so sorry. How old were you when it appeared? How do you know when you got it? |
Insurance doesn’t even cover it after 45 |
Mine did (Cigna corporate plan) |
| So how do you handle oral sex when you’re dating/in a relationship with a man who wasn’t vaccinated when young? |
Same question here . Oral sex is pretty much a normality in early dating stages but I’m very concerned about STIs |
