How do you stop ActBlue from spamming your phone?

Anonymous
I've sent multiple e-mails swearing to never contribute another dollar until they stop blowing up my phone. My e-mail is another thing. It is so ruined by various spammers I dont even use it anymore.

But my phone!!! Geez leave me alone. I used to give regularly. Ha. No more. Never. Ever. I'd rather see Trump be president again than to relent to these POS.

Let me know when you figure it out. I receive 5 emails a day from Trump, I would like to turn it against him.

Wow, the people responding to the original post are jerks. I am also looking for a way to stop the ActBlue from spamming my phone-- no matter how many times I text STOP or unsubscribe, they've apparently sold my info to some new Dem. Now I'm just angry that they won't take NO for an answer. So glad others have had an easier time getting them to stop. Not everyone has the same experience.

If anyone has found out what is REALLY going on, would love to hear it. If you have nothing to actually add, don't bother responding. Solidarity, original poster.

Hello I have been having this issue also. I think act blue gives your number to a bunch of campaigns and you have to tell each one to stop individually. I’ve started responding and saying that I will vote for the other guy if they ever text me again.

Just text stop. This is not a real issue.

I’m a democrat and I agree. I get many unsolicited texts bc I gave to Biden and a local D in the past. They come from different numbers. I do reply stop or block but then I will get a text message from another candidate. It is a real turnoff for sure. I also think it’s an elder abuse issue since I am sure older D lifers are falling for pleas for money.

For anyone who fundraisers for the democrats reading this, the upshot is that I am likely to never give to a police campaign again.

I feel you, OP. I made one political donation in 2016, and I’m still getting emails and texts, no matter how many times I unsubscribe, junk, block, and text Stop. It’s infuriating. But I doubt it’s worth pursuing. I don’t plan to ever donate to a campaign again, that’s for sure.

Hmmm, interesting

The political parties still have their influence seeking mega donors but I would imagine the number of individual small donors has continually declined in recent years for obvious reasons. I've also noticed fewer political bumper stickers on cars and less red or blue signs in front yards. I'm okay with this.

Stop the whining. Learn how to unsubscribe and move on. Pitiful.

I never subscribed in the first time. I have reached out and emailed over 50 times and they still message me daily. All they did was change the name. Time to outlaw text campaigns and fine anyone who does it.

DC Vote started doing text campaigns and fundraising around national partisan issues. I've now stopped donating to them because of it.

Unsubscribing from each does not stop the deluge of new ones, and, more to the point: serves as a positive indicator to unethical campaign contact database maintainers that your number is active, making it *more valuable* to future purchasers.

Eat a bag of dicks, dipshits.

Well said! "STOP" doesn't work and neither does "Block and Report". I've done both for the past few weeks but still get 3-4 different text solicitations per day. I contributed to several Democrat races over the past few years, so somebody scraped my info from a report, put it into a database, and sold my info to various campaigns as a likely contributor. I use my phone for business, and the recurring texts are extremely frustrating.

I will not be financially supporting any Democrat campaigns this cycle so I don't end up on more lists.

The candidates and organizations themselves are the ones that sell the lists.

Individual small donations were increasing leading up to 2017, and that was before ActBlue and WinRed really got going. I can’t find updated data for this but I seriously doubt that trend turned on a dime. The 2018 midterms in particular were absolutely fueled by individual donations, and there have been a number of candidates on both sides famously racking up lots of small dollars even though their races are unwinnable - Amy McGrath against Mitch McConnell, Kim Klacik in Baltimore, Omar Navarro in San Francisco, Marcus Flowers against MTG etc.

I think the volume and length of the text and the practice of one campaign selling lists to another will indeed harm individual donations in the long run.

I also don't opt in for texts or give them my mobile number.

It wasn't for me. If ActBlue continues to send text messages, is that harassment? Can they be criminally charged?

You sound like a nut. It is a text. Just delete it.

The person is not lying. I am a democrat & have donated & have unsubscribed & have typed STOP multiple times and STILL daily get messages. So yes I can just delete them - but also Yes it is annoying when my phone goes off sometimes multiple times.

I easily get unsubscribed by sending STOP.
