Would I bet a candidate for ozempic?

Not OP but this attitude kind of pisses me off. I’m similar and mid-40s. Please stop the “doable with small changes” while giving all the sympathy to those who are obese. Nope. Working my ass off to stay 10-15 lbs over and the weight doesn’t budge once you are peri or menopausal.

Who cares if my attitude about it bugs you? This is a drug for diabetes and serious weight issues, not 7 lbs.

You know, maybe they should follow the advice and make some small changes. I get it - but at the same time type 2 diabetes can be managed through the same food choices. So it’s insulting to say to a person “just make some small changes” it should be saved for people who have let it get out of control.

Will add that my girlfriend went on it, then as soon as her weight was within the normal range, they wouldn’t prescribe it. She ballooned back up again. At which point they were again willing to prescribe. What is the point of that?

You can then gripe at people with type 2 diabetes. But I stand by my comment that it’s insane to consider going on a drug like this for *7 pounds.* my god if you walk 20k steps a day you could lose that in 8 weeks.

I agree it’s insane to go on this drug for 7 ponds. However I disagree with you saying “just walk 20k steps”. Tried it, didn’t work. Stop telling people to make small changes and it will go away. It’s so obnoxious.

It’s a common belief so you should probably not come to a forum about diet and exercise if you’re triggered by people saying increasing activity can help you lose vanity pounds. This is not serious weight. We aren’t discussing curing obesity. Everyone who has 7 lbs to lose could lose it. If you can’t, guess what - that’s the healthy weight for your body. You shouldn’t F with that with semaglutides.

Im in the same position and dont think its worth the side effects.

All of this. I’ve chosen not to take it, but I don’t judge anyone who uses it to lose the vanity weight. If you want it, you can get it.

No judgement except that doctors over prescribed it for vanity pounds and now people with heart disease, sleep apnea, prior stroke and heart attacks can’t get their prescription filled. So while I’m all for it generally, it caused a shortage for those with real risks. And yes, it’s more important that they have it than someone 7 pounds over their goal weight.

I’ve had a heart attack and have sleep apnea (well had sleep apnea until ozempic) and I’ve NEVER had a hard time getting my Rx filled. However, my insurance also does not cover it.

Not sure why people think there’s and ozempic shortage.

You people are nuts. Costco, Amazon, Walgreens, and CVS has it. How do I know? I’m on it and each month have to shop around for the cheapest option because I pay out of pocket. No idea what you are doing wrong , but it’s definitely something.

There was. Now it’s a Wegovy shortage. Insurance approved my Wegovy but getting them to approve the substitute could take as long as the shortage will last.

Some people can. Not everyone.

Op is not classified as overweight. What is the reason for a drug to help her lose weight to get where she "wants to be"?

That wasn’t what I took issue with. It was the “just make some small changes” to get the weight off poster that I responded to. It’s hypocritical to say save all the weight loss drugs for the obese if they aren’t also making the same lifestyle changes.

Excuses. Eat less, no carbs, no sugar, move more. Works if you’re 20 or 70.

Of course they should be.

Op isn't overweight. Why the hell does she need what many now consider to be a weight loss drug?

This is false information. Sometimes fat really won’t go away for certain medical conditions.

I mean, aren’t you basically saying there is no need for medication for anyone then? Just stop making excuses?
