Prob has to do with where the car is made. There are certain levels that must be manufactured in the USA to be eligible for the full credit. For Tesla and most ev makers, the hardest part is meeting the manufacturing requirements for the batteries. I guess Tesla figured it out and now has a certain % of the battery made in the US. Tesla is so far ahead of all companies for their batteries. This is a game changer for Tesla, and we will see many more on the road now.

Why would I want to be seen in a car that government subsidies have allowed poors to afford?

The math doesn't subtract. How does this marylander get a tesla for 23k?

Exactly

Someone doesn’t understand tax credits

I no longer trust anything Elon Musk had a hand in. Not sure I would even drive a free one at this point.

It’s embarrassing to drive a Tesla.

I told DH we should look into it, but he's adamant that it's not worth it because of how much it would cost to fix it if it has issues or there's an accident, and it's more expensive to insure.

Please stop using words that show that you are a misogynist.

Nope! Won’t stop. Douches are, like Musk, a waste of of resources and we’d all be better off without them. Like Musk, their appeal is mainly to the ignorant and gullible who don’t understand their real effect.

Love,
A women’s college graduate and women’s health advocate, who feels very sure that Elon Musk is a grade A douchebag with excursions into douchenozzlehood and whose vehicle is pure douchecanoe

"Beginning April 18, the full tax credit will be divided into two parts. To qualify for the first $3,750, at least 50 percent of a vehicle’s battery components must be produced or assembled in North America.

To get the second $3,750, at least 40 percent of critical minerals used in the battery must be extracted or processed in the U.S. or in a country that is a U.S."

We’ve had ours about five years and have only had a couple minor issues. The tech came to our house to fix them and it was a pretty simple process. Much easier and cheaper than taking something to the dealer. And no oil changes. They generally require less maintenance and the tech updates generally come via remote download that happens automatically overnight.

sure, but it is still more expensive to insure, and what happens if you get into an accident?
