The boss from Office Space consistently hounds on "TPS Reports". Asks about them, reminds employees about them, does numerous follow ups, etc. Everyone knows about the reports and they do not need the follow ups, nor do the employees think the reports are really as important as the boss does. Maybe OP needs to watch the movie and gather her own take a ways. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fy3rjQGc6lA |

The subordinate undermined the boss by racing to ask another employee (at presumably the bosses level or higher). That guy was annoyed at having to do boss lady's job and told boss "Hey, why is underling asking me this stuff? What's going on over there?" Op reached out because she has tunnel vision that her work needs to be completed asap and got frustrated too quickly by boss. Boss sees this makes her look bad and snaps at op. |
None of that is in what OP wrote. You are inventing details. |
| The TPS reports don't have to be done asap and will be addressed at some point so just chill out about them before running around asking everyone to do them |
| Where is everyone getting this idea that OP was demanding people prioritize the project or setting unreasonable deadlines? |
The OP says the boss told her people complained that she was "aggressive" |
That’s the only detail? That word means a lot of different things. |
Not when coupled with the comparison to Office Space boss. I assumed boss meant she was aggressive like Lumbergh the character. |
It’s a truly nasty allusion. Even if OP needs some coaching on how to collaborate across teams, it’s her bosses job to identify that and help her. Plus boss put her in that position by expressly refusing to talk to OP. |
Can you read? The boss TOLD her to ask the third party. Then when the third party complained to the boss, boss threw OP under the bus and insulted her. It’s entirely possible OP needs coaching but that is NOT what boss is doing. |
… no. the TPS reports never get done, then OP gets in trouble. this is truly a double bind for OP. not an uncommon one, but one that she absolutely needs support from her boss to accomplish. |
Oh we all know what it means to call a young woman “aggressive” in the office … |
Why haven’t you answered this? It’s important to know whether this interaction is a one-off or if you have a pattern of struggling or if you’ve ever worked with others in an office setting like this. |
+3 I'm wondering if this is the Op who posted awhile back how/why she can't keep a job for more than a year. |
