"Dr. Gallagher said she performed top surgeries on about 40 patients a month, and roughly one or two of them are under 18. Younger patients are usually at least 15, though she has operated on one 13-year-old and one 14-year-old, she said, both of whom had extreme distress about their chests," a New York Times article published Monday reads. According to whom? |
Example please. |
In some cases, doctors and therapists have. been conditioned to encourage transitioning at a young age. Just as we have age requirements for so many things, it makes sense to wait on these types of treatments. I would never fully trust any medical professional which is why we get second opinions and advocate for our own care. And humans have proven time and time again that they don't always know what's beat. Sometimes you just have to save people from themselves. Waiting on such a huge decision makes perfect sense. |
What happened to parents being the ultimate authority over their kids? |
Wonder why the Mayo Clinic calls it a mastectomy? https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/top-surgery-for-transgender-men/about/pac-20469462#:~:text=Overview,your%20skin%2C%20nipple%20and%20areola. Top surgery for transgender men and nonbinary people is a procedure to remove breast or chest tissue (subcutaneous mastectomy). It's also called masculinizing chest surgery. If your chest size is small, you might be able to have surgery that spares your skin, nipple and areola. This type of surgery is called nipple-sparing subcutaneous mastectomy. If you have a larger chest, you might need to have your nipples and areolas taken off, resized and placed back into position. |
Do you know what a zero sum game is? |
Example listed by someone else above from a NYT article. In some states minors can’t get tattoos but they can lop their nuts off? And you support that for children? |
|
I wonder if insurance will cover therapy bills down the road for parents who go all-in on transitions for their emotionally troubled children, who then figure out after permanently ruining their healthy bodies that the issue was in fact something else.
But hey, maybe this really is the one case in mental health where the patient can self-diagnose with 100% accuracy even as a child. |
| UK's NHS issued a guidance against any type of transition for minors, including social guidance. |
How do you know these patients haven't had second and third opinions? Really, this is none of your business to be making a judgement on. |
Exactly. They want it all ways, with the end result always being government interference. Don't like the books? Ban them, parents don't want that in their kids' classrooms. Don't want to hear about gender identity? Ban that discussion in schools and call it the parental freedom act or some such BS. But now parents want to have control over their kids' mental health? Oh, we can't have that. Hypocrites. |
Not hard to do https://www.nytimes.com/2022/09/26/health/top-surgery-transgender-teenagers.html |
WHO CARES??!! You worry about your kids, let other people worry about their kids!!!!! Who the hell do people think they are to even have an opinion on this if it's not their family member. Mind your own damn business and stop it with all this crap. |
So, you’re against child abuse laws and truancy laws? |
