South Dakota forcing trans kids to detransition

You can't legally sign a contract to buy a car, a house, etc. until you're 18, but you can have a double mastectomy (and yes, this is happening to minors).

Puberty blockers aren't anything to be taken lightly either. Many think the results are reversible, but that's not often the case.

Many European countries are reversing course on these medical "interventions", even progressive Sweden, Finland, Denmark...

bottom line, if you don't want to do these things, then don't, but please don't tell other people how they should live their lives

Hormones and puberty blockers are not safe and shouldn't be given to children. Doctors know this, they are just choosing to look the other way in these situations.

What is your personal training and direct knowledge of this? Not using google.

NP. Even the NYT has written about the serious side effects.
If NYT is acknowledging that problems exist, I believe it.
Also, I don’t believe the only people “qualified” to speak on this issue are those who are in the industry.
If anything, I trust them less.

There is no way kids can consent to this. There just isn’t. Their brains are not developed enough.

I'm glad to see the pushback on this trend. Social media and affirming parents (and therapists) are part of the problem and need to be checked.

So, no problem blocking it if it doesn’t happen. (You have your head in the sand and are willfully ignoring many such cases, but that’s fine if you agree it shouldn’t happen.)

+1 I'll add that there is just way too much money being made over the last 10 years in this area to leave these decisions solely in the hands of the providers who benefit.

If they are over 18, they can join the military or buy a gun. That is ok with you, but control over their identity or who they are as a person poses some sort of threat to you?

Lots of money to be made in this emerging industry. Pharma gets to keep these kids on medicine for the rest of their lives, surgeons get money for operating, shrinks get money when after the transition, their lives aren't magically perfect.

Remember the video of the doctor discussing the money making opportunity this presents? https://www.arkansasonline.com/news/2022/sep/21/videos-of-tennessee-hospital-officials-discussing-transgender-care-spark-calls-for-investigation/

And this is a whistle-blower's account of what's going on: https://www.thefp.com/p/i-thought-i-was-saving-trans-kids

It's not a double mastectomy. It's a breast reduction. They don't remove all the breast tissue. Learn what you're talking about before you start spouting off medical terms. It's like when people talk about a heartbeat being detected in a fetus that hasn't developed a heart yet.

I promise more kids are being harmed by guns than by doctors providing gender affirming care.
