Would you be mad if your DC got someone/was pregnant?

If it was a girlfriend I would not be upset. If it was a rando I’d be disappointed but it is what it is.

I don’t think unwed pregnancies is a huge deal. I know many people who did this and have a great life. I know at least 10 good friends who got pregnant unwed or their kids did. Most staying in college, figured it out, pro choice friends.

Oddly my super conservative trumper cousin’s son 17 got his girlfriend pregnant and she is freaking out, hiding the grandchild, etc. I find pro life people are so crazy about it.

I've been telling my kids since they were young they are not to become parents until at least age 30, so they have time both for their brains to fully develop AND have a few years with those fully formed brains to experience adult life. So they know to get an abortion.

That's hilarious. If both are above 21, in a relationship and have college degrees and ability to have a decent job, they are fine. If they are 31, its a random hook up and they don't have degree or job, brains clearly didn't develop well.

Good luck affording daycare around here at 21.

Unless they are under 21 students, i would refrain from influencing their decision in either direction.

What are grandparents for? Most recent college grads are getting $80k+ start nowadays so with $160k, they should be okay as long as they don't have more kids for several years. I would be okay with their decision but would advise thinking it through so they know consequences.

I’m assuming you have daughters. Nice to see you taught them that pro choice means mandatory abortion

I have both.

You know that you don't have that kind of control over your adult children's decisions?

Recent college grads dumb enough to get pregnant aren’t making $80k out of college, and it is highly unlikely the 21 year old father will stick around (even more unlikely if they’re unmarried). I guess anything is possible if the 21 year olds have wealthy parents, but most who get pregnant at that age don’t.

Paid maternity leave doesn’t kick in for 1 year at my employer.

For most people, it kicks in never. So no point waiting for something that will never come.

Yeah that’s intense and weird. Did you also tell them about the risks of waiting to have kids - fertility issues, miscarriage risks, etc.? They can only have a baby between 30 and 35? That’s a narrow window!

How old? At what stage in their life? Details matter.

Pp who says her kids were told not to get pregnant before 30. You are way over involved in their lives.

Good God. You'll be one posting about how your awful DIL won't let you see your grandkids.

And if abortion is not legal in US, then I would take them to my country of origin for an abortion.

What if they wanted to keep the child?

As cute and fun as that sounds for them, the parents of the girl are funding the baby. let's be real here. And in that case, they have every right to an opinion on whether they want to fund that abby or not.

At what age? OP does not specify.

Any age where the mother cannot support themselves.

Grandparents work. I doubt most college grads are earning 80K out of college.
