OMG! Look at Karen posting from Paris. I wish I was her. She is eating moules-frites and has a Louis Vuitton bag. I could never dream of that. She is so amazing. |
You'd be surprised. I don't travel to the same old boring, cliche places where most of DCUM goes. People are interested. I'm interesting. |
The only time I appreciate travel photos is when it alerts me that an old friend has gotten divorced. Good to know. |
I do not post about a trip while my home is empty. I do share a few photos from my trips though. People who aren’t interested can scroll by but my parents, siblings, in-laws and other family are spread about the country so it is the fastest and easiest way to share about a trip equally with all.
I enjoy seeing a few trip photos from friends or family members. I don’t want to scroll an unedited photo dump, which I also would never share, but I like seeing new places or my friends and family having fun. None of it for me relates to trying to look rich. Or not. |
I think the moral of the story is that if you don't like seeing people's travel photos you should just not look at them because many of us do indeed enjoy seeing them. i know I do. Especially of places in Asia where I will never go. |
I know you think you are, but you’re really not ![]() |
As I said, I don't travel to the usual places, which would include Paris. |
Yes, I am. |
Sure, travels near and far. My account is private and I have very few followers (fewer than 100). I’ll post the travel process on stories and then post my trip once one I’m back. |
I would rather be gauche than laughing at random people in the carline for posting a picture of their vacation |
+1. My day to day life is pretty boring and I feel great joy when I travel. I edit down the pics to just a few. I’ve also gotten inspired by other friends’ travel posts. I’m not posting daily 60-pic daily albums of my third trip to Disney or anything like that. |
I love when people post pictures of their trips. It’s only thing worth being on social media for. |
Yes and yes.
I post photos because my family and (some) friends like to see them. I understand that some people don't, but I don't particularly care and don't really understand why people stay on Facebook if they don't like seeing photos of what others are doing. I love seeing photos of other people's trips because: 1) I am happy for my family/friends when they get to travel to cool places; 2) I don't get to travel as much as I'd like so I appreciate living vicariously through others; and 3) I like to get ideas about places to go. I actually get annoyed if I know a friend is traveling and they don't post any photos. |
Wish granted. |
I think this is a big difference that’s key to the convo. Half of these people posting are “friends” on social with everyone they’ve ever met so of course they don’t care. they don’t even know or really like most of these people. For those of us who don’t use FB and only have 100 or so people following on IG who we actually know and care about, the travel posts are interesting. I like seeing where they go! But that’s because I’m not inundated with the inane postings of people I don’t care about and if they’re following me it’s the same - I don’t befriend neighbors or kids friends parents or whatever |
