What do you not understand?
Youngkin ran on banning all contraceptives, all abortions, IVF, any women's medical issues. Not one exception for age, rape or incest. So a 10 year old gets pregnant in VA she gets to carry.

The only reason he has not been able to pass anything is L Louise Lucas

There is a chance this will pass.

Virginia voters are idiots. FACT.

From a full abortion ban to privatizing schools welcome to the handmaid's tale and the new Alabama or Missouri.

Anyone sending a college student to any school in VA stupid. Women are going to die in droves.

Youngkin didn't run on those things. During the election people were on here saying he was being secretive about his real plans, telling a pro-lifer that he would do things after he was elected.

He said he believes that life begins at conception, that he would push a 15 week abortion ban with exceptions, and that he would happily sign any anti-abortion legislation. He would be fine with a full abortion ban if it was politically feasible.

AND we all heard him admit that he couldn’t really talk about it before the election because he needed to get the independent vote. So it was very clear he would push for as much as he could get in VA.

SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:

“Rights beginning at conception. Provides that life begins at conception and each person is accorded the same rights and protections guaranteed to all persons by the Constitution of the United States, the Constitution of Virginia, and the laws of the Commonwealth beginning at the moment of conception. The bill also repeals all provisions of the Code of Virginia allowing for the performance of abortions.”

Anyone who has been through IVF should note this also includes ban on “selective reduction” aka if you transfer multiple embryos to see what sticks, but suddenly have 5 growing… Who knows what this means for people who have embryos on ice.

So no IUDs or plan B. Full ban on abortion. Does it give exceptions for rape?

Rape exceptions are basically exceptions in name only. The 13 year old isn't going to hire an attorney, press charges, bring her rapist to trial and get a conviction all that often. All while the clock is ticking on that abortion...

Wait. Does VA have a ban on same-sex marriage?

OMG, it’s the usual troll again. FACT: Youngkin did not run on any of those issues, you complete dolt. Go spew your LWNJ extremist garbage elsewhere.

He purposely did not run on any of that because he’s a scummy liar. He said whatever he had to say to get elected.

So which is it? He ran on it or he obviously did not run on it?

What don't I understand? The bill! It's confusing. As are lots of bills. I'd love to see a (brief) legal breakdown of this.

I totally disagree with you on Youngkin. Youngkin has positioned himself as the socially palatable conservative. Because he isn't outright saying everything the Republican Party believes in, somebody in Nova can put a Youngkin sign in their yard and still feel good about themselves. It would actually be nice if he pushed a no-exceptions abortion ban because everybody would see him for his true colors. Instead he has proposed things like a ban after 15 weeks with exceptions for rape, incest, and life of the mother. To me it's still morally reprehensible for the government to force somebody to give birth but you can see how a bill like that is much more likely to be passed and therefore more dangerous.

Not that I'd rule out anything. It is scary.

You'd rather he push a total ban than a 15 week limit with exceptions? You sound nuts.

Richmonder here. Our shame - Joe Morrissey is a Democrat in name but is NOT pro choice (he’s a horrible lying cheating immoral scum of a person). The RCDC (Richmond Dems) are trying to censor him in that aspect but he’s a loose cannon.

If this is important to you - join your local Democratic organization!!!!

He was wink wink pro-life religious nutter. Just like he was wink wink Big Lie.

The only way he could get elected was to wink wink the trash MAGAs and more openly court the independents.

No, of course not. The nutters on this thread would love for you to believe otherwise, though.

Oh please, you had to be a fool to think he was not running on these items.

Everyone with a brain knew he was a liar.

So you agree he wasn't running on those things explicitly. You have to call him a liar to attribute these positions to him.

I knew him before he ran. He was always very into his conservative church, very wealthy and pro-life. So yes I knew he would be a typical GOP candidate on those types of issues.

Actually it does have one on the books but it’s superseded by the marriage equality act.

Wink wink insane ^^

^ openly a rube

We all saw him say he would “go on the offense” against women’s rights after the election. He openly admitted he couldn’t talk about it then to garner Independent votes.

He didn’t call out Trump for January 6th and still hasn’t and that tells me all that I need to know about him. He’s garbage.
